Enter into the cosy and comfortable sitting room with wooden floor, leather sofas and open fire – the perfect spot to relax. There is a separate stylish dining room where you can access the decked sun terrace and well-equipped kitchen. Head upstairs to the two comfortable bedrooms and modern family bathroom.
A holiday cottage in Near Sawrey places you at the heart of the Lakes and close to Moss Eccles Tarn and tranquil Esthwaite Water which lies between Near Sawrey and Hawkshead village. Nearby Hawkshead village is enchanting with its car-free cobbled streets, its air of history - fascinating historic attractions include the Hawkshead Grammar School museum and the former home of Beatrix Potter, open to the public at Hill Top. There’s also a selection of pubs to enjoy as well as The Little Ice Cream Shop and tempting treats at Hawkshead Relish. Despite the secluded feel, Hawkshead village remains close by and the car-ferry crossing over Lake Windermere to Bowness is minutes away.
The village of Sawrey is situated two miles from Hawkshead down the eastern side of Esthwaite Water, overlooked by the woods and tarns of Claife Heights. Sawrey consists of two separate hamlets - Near Sawrey and Far Sawrey - both with a cluster of picturesque cottages, tea rooms and pubs. Near Sawrey is famous for Hill Top, the 17th century farmhouse where Beatrix Potter wrote her acclaimed children's stories. Now a museum, owned and run by the National Trust, Hill Top is one of the most visited houses in the Lake District. Far Sawrey is the hamlet furthest away from Hawkshead and the nearest to the ferry point on Windermere. It offers a church and pub/restaurant with a beer garden. There are good walks in the area, including those to Claife Heights and in Grizedale Forest. It's also a great base for enjoying a wide variety of typical Lakeland pursuits - with watersports close at hand on Lake Windermere, fishing on nearby Esthwaite Water and, of course, fell walking.

It was tired and dirty. Mould on the shower curtain, the wood around the kitchen window was grimy, dirty cushions in the sofa, crumbs in the creases of the sofa. Dirty floor, no hot water, broken kettle, which they changed for us, but should have been checked before we arrived. I spent most of my holiday on the phone to Sykes to sort things for us, but the hot water wasnât resolved, as apparently we donât know how press a switch on, even tho I sent photos of the boiler on. They still insist there is hot water, I will never use this company again neither would I go back to this cottage, apparently itâs down to the owner, I donât agree, if the owner is paying Sykes to take care of his property, its down to them to make sure the cottage is clean and what ever needs changing Sykes would deal with it. Wonât use them again.

Very clean. Parking was difficult as lane narrow and had to park super close to the cottage- Unable to use outside space with the dogs as open to neighbouring propertyâs- would be beneficial to have this gated off otherwise a fantastic property and location Lovely dogs walks all around - thank you
