Guests say

Pavement End Cottage is praised for its stunning location in Grasmere, offering beautiful views and a tranquil setting. Guests appreciate the property's spaciousness, comfortable furnishings, and the convenience of being close to village amenities. While some minor issues are noted, the overall sentiment is that the cottage provides a delightful and relaxing holiday experience.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Cleanliness has received mixed feedback. Some guests reported the property was not thoroughly cleaned, with specific mentions of old breadcrumbs, unwashed crockery, and dead flies. However, these instances seem isolated, and not all reviews reflect cleanliness concerns.

The location is consistently lauded for its spectacular views and proximity to Grasmere village. It is described as an ideal starting point for walks and enjoying the Lake District, contributing to a high score in this category.

Guests find the cottage comfortable, with several positive comments about the furnishings and the cosy atmosphere. Some minor complaints about bathroom sizes and kitchen space slightly affect the score, but overall comfort is rated highly.

Facilities have been a point of contention, with reports of broken showers, lights, and windows. Despite these issues, the property's amenities like ensuite bathrooms and a sun room are appreciated. The score reflects a need for maintenance but acknowledges the existing positive aspects.

There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

About this property

f you're looking for a Lakeland character property in a world-renowned location, at the heart of the Lakes and immersed in the landscapes that have inspired artists and poets for hundreds of years, then Pavement End Cottage will leave you enchanted. A detached superbly located cottage with breathtaking unforgettable views over Grasmere Water itself.

Inside the atmosphere is homely but indulgent; sumptuous fabrics and furnishings, those wonderful views from every single window, two living rooms, a conservatory, a very well equipped kitchen and ground floor cloakroom and then upstairs to the three en-suite bedrooms, all with magnificent views. The patio garden also boasts the lake views and all this only a few hundred yards from the heart of Grasmere village centre.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family have been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century and Grasmere Lake, plus Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland Wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.

It is a short walk into Grasmere and an even shorter walk to Faeryland who do the most wonderful teas and cake. There is plenty of room in this cottage for you all to have your own space. I loved how there were little instructions on labels around the house, much easier than plowing through lots of lists. Would love to come back as was perfect for us, but we will have a dog next year.

A couple of minor issues which we brought to to the owners attention, and which did not detract in any way from our wonderful stay at this wonderful place.
