Guests that stayed at this property said

Most guests found the lodge to be very clean and well-maintained, contributing to a comfortable stay. However, there was an isolated complaint about cleanliness upon arrival, which slightly impacts the overall high score.

The location is consistently described as beautiful, peaceful, and close to local attractions, making it an ideal base for exploring the Lake District. The proximity to Windermere and Bowness is particularly appreciated.

Guests find the lodge comfortable, with special mentions of the comfortable beds and cosy atmosphere. Some guests noted the shower cubicle size and low settees as minor discomforts.

The lodge is well-equipped and guests are generally satisfied with the facilities. However, there are several mentions of poor internet connectivity and a suggestion to improve the gate catch for the convenience of those with pets.

There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess this category.

About this property

Comraich is a beautifully presented lodge at Limefitt Park in the tranquil Troutbeck valley, with a unique ‘L-shape’ design, offering guests a spacious lounge, dining and kitchen area. It sits in a sought-after position on the riverbank of the ‘Trout Beck’ with views to the fells and beyond, and bi-fold doors opening onto a spacious outside deck where you can simply sit and listen to the sound of the beck below and nature all around. Comraich means ‘sanctuary’ and is named after the old Gaelic name for Applecross in the Scottish Highlands, which was a resting place for travellers crossing from Ireland since the 7th Century. Your lodge is nestled in a peaceful area of this lovely location at Limefitt Park - a lovely spot just four miles from Windermere village, five miles from the lake shore at Bowness, and ten miles from Ullswater. The Troutbeck valley Limefitt Park is a great base for your touring or walking holiday and you can walk to two local traditional pubs through the fields, and up onto the fells behind the Park toward the High Street range. Jump in the car and you’ll discover Brotherswater six miles away, and Ullswater ten miles away. All of course with local pubs and shops and fantastic walks and breathtaking views. Back on the Park there is a handy pub and shop, and children’s playground and nearby pony trekking. A wonderful place to make family memories in your own 'sanctuary'.

The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. Children will enjoy a trip to the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness whilst the villages of Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.
