About this property

Designed by one of the most successful British architects of the 19th century, this characterful apartment set within a Grade II-listed hall in the idyllic village of Crimplesham is the ultimate rural retreat perfect for couples or families craving an escape to the country.

Sympathetically designed to retain the hall’s rich history, the cosy lounge offers an oasis of calm, where stylish vibrant hues and period pieces reminiscent of centuries past coexist in perfect harmony. Flooded with plenty of natural sunlight, the light and airy kitchen/diner is alive with delightful country-cottage style decor and natural wood hues that perfectly blend into the colours of the local landscape. In keeping with the rustic yet homely atmosphere of the rest of the apartment, the double bedroom, featuring a striking antique wooden bed, is a haven of tranquillity, whilst the twin bedroom features two single beds, one of which is a decedent four-poster with sheer canopies ensuring a dreamy slumber. Standing within 5 acres of shared grounds, woodland walks, wildlife habitats, the ruins of a 10th-century folly and a peaceful lake await to be explored.

The quiet countryside village of Crimplesham is a haven for keen outdoor explorers, home to scenic trails carving their way through the heart of the idyllic Norfolk countryside. Lying on the banks of the River Great Ouse, you can head to the historic town of Downham Market, 3 miles away, to lose yourself in the charm of many fine historic buildings and pick up some fabulous local produce from the bustling market, held on Fridays and Saturdays. Answer the call of the sea at the golden sandy stretch at Hunstanton (26 miles) or dive into hundreds of years of history by exploring The King's country residence at Sandringham, 17 miles away.

When we arrived we were met by Nicola, the housekeeper, who was very pleasant and warmly welcomed us. The house itself was lovely, very old and gradually being restored. The location is very good for sightseeing around north Norfolk.

We were made very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.
