A Magnificent Georgian Home with Unique Views of Alnmouth Village and Beach
The Carriage House is a beautiful, grand home in the heart of Alnmouth village. This impressive property has undergone extensive renovation to restore the original features of this traditional Georgian village home, but with some welcome modern additions. From the magnificent sandstone fireplace – once the cooking range - to the wooden shutters at the front facing windows, from the fabulous oriel window upstairs - allowing incredible views to the sea - to the pretty stained glass in the front door; this house is very special. The Carriage House occupies a prominent position on the main street of the village and is a stone’s throw from the beach, with miles of golden sands to explore. Alnmouth is known for its selection of quirky and cosy cottages, but this gorgeous home has a grand presence on the quaint and quiet street of this arty village.
The Carriage House sleeps up to eight guests and welcomes 1 dog. Al-fresco dining is romantic and private in its pretty courtyard and the beach is just a stone's throw away. Three great pubs, gorgeous art galleries and a fabulous local deli are all just around the corner, as well as the East Coast main line with regular services north to Scotland and south towards Newcastle. The Carriage House is perfect for a holiday in Northumberland for families or groups of friends.

One year on after staying at The Carriage House for a short break in April 2023, we returned for a longer break last week. I’m sure that it will not be our last visit because the property and the location has everything you need for a wonderful family break. The property is very well-appointed and comfortably accommodates the three generations of our family. Alnmouth itself benefits from good eateries and the excellent deli, whilst the beach is an attraction at any time of the year for grandchildren! Northumberland has so many attractions to visit and many wonderful places to eat and drink – and not at Edinburgh or London prices! I can’t recommend this highly enough. It ticks all the boxes for a family holiday.

We have enjoyed a quiet and peaceful week in a superb house and location in Alnmouth. Over the years we have stayed in several houses here and this is comfortably the best! The owner was most kind and considerate in accommodating our special requirements. We can recommend Turnbull’s Farm Shop in Alnwick – it’s near the M&S Food Hall!

An amazing weekend in a fabulous house. The Carriage House is faultless in its location, layout and decoration. We had mostly beautiful weather, 18 degrees yesterday with a great walk over to the estuary to Church Hill and around the back. We saw Curlews, Goldfinches, Starlings, Crows, Pigeons, Grey Herons, White Egrets, Lapwings, Redshank, Oystercatcher, Swans, Canada Geese, Turns, Gulls, Seals and quite a few different Dogs! What a wonderful place! 3 days felt like a week! So peaceful! Thank you.
