About this property

An apartment settled into a stunning Grade II listed country house dating from the 14th century built around the Pele Tower, Craster Tower Penthouse is ideal for family and friends looking to explore the history and heritage of Northumberland. Craster Tower Penthouse welcomes you into a duplex apartment set over the ground and first floors of this stone property, nestled within a fantastic garden of lawns, shrubs and mature trees, where you will have access to a communal tennis court and seating areas. Upon entry you will find a cloakroom, drying room and utility room to take care of all of your muddy clothes as you relax upstairs in a selection of living areas, beginning with a homely sitting area sporting stylish sofas in various colours and a woodburning stove, a space filled with light and ideal for catching up on your favourite TV shows. Hints of history can be enjoyed in the beautiful library room, where there is an incredible selection of books available for guests, as well as tasteful vintage furniture, and there is a second sitting room with breath-taking windows that are almost tear-drop shaped, sporting a window seat and giving a real opulent feel when paired with tall ceilings, grand piano and pale furniture. When mealtimes call, a cheerful kitchen-diner with an additional sofa, colourful artwork and yellow walls caters to all of your culinary needs and creates a space where guests can enjoy cooking together. Continuing the beauty of the living areas, four bedrooms, and a playroom with a cot and two bathrooms, sport homely décor and historic opulence, beginning with a king-size bedroom with a door to the bathroom, a super-king zip-link bedroom and two twin bedrooms. The seaside village of Craster boasts pretty views and stunning countryside walks, so you can join the Northumberland Coastal Path and enjoy the scenery, or head over the pretty local harbour and small beach. Craster offers a selection of tasty eateries as well as easy access to local attractions, including Dunstanburgh Heughs Nature Reserve and Dunstanburgh Castle. Further from the property you will find the historic town of Bamburgh with its fantastic castle. Explore the amazing coastline of Northumberland with a stay at Craster Tower Penthouse.

A picturesque village that seems to tumble into the sea, Craster was an important fishing harbour in the 17th century and is still famous for its oak cured kippers which have graced the best breakfast tables for more than 150 years. The village offers a pub serving food, a fish restaurant and Robson's famous fish shop. There is also an excellent children's playground. Nearby are some of Northumberland's finest sandy beaches. Just south of Craster is Howick Hall, which was built in 1782 and has associations with the Grey family, including Earl Grey the great social reformer and tea enthusiast. The gardens at Howick Hall are open to the public during the spring and summer and are especially worth a visit during the rhododendron season. A walk along the coastal footpath to the north of Craster brings you to the dramatic ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle - the largest ruined castle in Northumberland.
