Guests say

Old Byre Cottage is a well-regarded holiday rental, praised for its cleanliness, tranquil location, and friendly hosts. Guests appreciate the cosy comfort, stunning views, and the proximity to walking routes and local attractions. The unique upside-down layout and the opportunity for wildlife encounters add to the charm. While some minor issues with Wi-Fi connectivity and bed stability are noted, the overall experience is positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The cottage consistently receives high praise for its cleanliness, with multiple reviews highlighting its tidy and well-maintained condition. Guests have expressed satisfaction with the level of cleanliness throughout their stay.

The location is celebrated for its peace and quiet, with easy access to walking routes and proximity to both the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. The scenic views and wildlife are frequently mentioned, though some guests noted limited phone reception.

Guests find the cottage comfortable, particularly noting the quality of the double bed and the cosy atmosphere. However, concerns about the bunk beds' suitability for adults and the softness of one mattress suggest room for improvement.

The facilities are generally well-received, with specific compliments on the views from the living room and the veranda. Criticisms include the small fridge size, the need for TLC downstairs, and the Wi-Fi setup, indicating some areas could benefit from updates or enhancements.

While the reviews reflect positively on the hosts' friendliness and helpfulness, there are no specific mentions of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided to guests. Therefore, it is not possible to assess this category accurately.

3 nights but wished it was longer to explore the farm and take in the local walks. There is a warm welcome from the owners to check you have Everything you need .

Upon entering property it looked like it needed a bit of TLC downstairs. We discovered the second bedroom had no bed linen and I tried calling both numbers listed but no one answered. Owner came to property following morning and apologised and made duvet up . The duvets are disgusting and I didn't use them because they were that bad . I had brought my own and we went to shops and got another. Discovered further duvets discarded in cupboard under stairs. Upstairs was okay, we had everything we needed. Wondered why so many flies around the seating area though, the carpet needs cleaned and this will help . I enjoyed my holiday but not accomodation. Even though I got this holiday at reduced rate of £500 , I think I could've found a better property to rent if I had looked harder.

Would recommend to anyone wanting a rural holiday. Simply and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. Fantastic walking just outside the door.
