Ulverston's central street is paved with cobblestones, and the town itself has a historic feel. It has many unique stores, cafes, and pubs serving up real fires and a variety of brews. From five-star restaurants to neighbourhood pubs, there is truly something for every palate. Ulverston is also well-known as a festival town, hosting a variety of events throughout the summer (including flag and walking festivals, as well as art and music festivals, and the world-famous Dickensian Christmas festival in late November). Stan Laurel was born there, and the town holds the record for the largest foam pie fight in the world, so you can imagine it's a pretty fun place to visit. Featuring the world's deepest, widest, and shortest canal, this area is perfect for a leisurely stroll in the afternoon, thanks to the nearby pub and beautiful views of the bay. Everything was available to us and everything we might need had been thought of. It was better than we expected and would love to return again. The grounds were exceptional too! Never stayed in an apartment before but with adult children, this is definitely the way forward for us. Thanks for having us.
