Guests say

The Dell is a highly praised cottage in the Peak District, consistently described as clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches like homemade cakes and fresh flowers, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. Its location is ideal for exploring local history and enjoying scenic walks, with a friendly village pub nearby. The property's secluded yet central setting is perfect for a peaceful retreat.

Reviewers repeatedly commend the cottage for its spotless condition, with many emphasising the exceptional cleanliness. The property is consistently described as immaculate, which reflects a high standard of upkeep.

The cottage's location is frequently praised for being central to scenic walks and local attractions, with a secluded yet accessible setting. The proximity to a village with a welcoming pub adds to its charm, although one mention of limited dining options slightly tempers the score.

Guests find the cottage cosy and comfortable, with a well-furnished living space and a comfortable bed. There is a single mention of a low sofa being difficult to rise from, but overall, the comfort level is rated highly.

The property is lauded for its well-equipped kitchen, modern bathroom, and quality fixtures. The presence of thoughtful extras like maps and books is appreciated. A few minor suggestions for improvements prevent a perfect score.

The owners' thoughtfulness is evident through the provision of welcome treats like homemade cakes and biscuits, fresh flowers, and essential items to start the holiday. While these gestures are highly valued, it is politely noted that such personal touches, though common, are not guaranteed.

This cottage is ideal for a romantic break away with plenty of original features in the property as well as peace and tranquillity of the surrounding area, with easy access to the village itself. On entry to the cottage, you arrive in a well-equipped kitchen with a dining table; perfect for romantic evening meals. A spacious sitting room gives a lovely cottage feel, making a perfect place to sit back and chill out with your favourite tipple in the evenings. Upstairs is a tastefully decorated double bedroom, again with original features with its’ own en-suite shower room. To the outside of the cottage is a lovely large lawned garden with a good-sized patio and furniture, making it a great place to dine alfresco or just sit out and enjoy the countryside. From the property there are plenty of walking areas and cycle routes to enjoy. Within a five minute walk takes you into the village of Winster where there are two pubs providing home-cooked food and traditional ales, a general store and a Post Office. There are nearby pretty towns such as Bakewell and Matlock to visit, as well as local attractions such as stunning Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and the Crich Tramway Museum and Peak Railway. Set in stunning scenery, The Dell is a wonderful place to enjoy a short break or longer, at any time of the year.

The village of Winster is situated within the Peak District National Park and is an extremely pretty place, with a charming 17th century market house at its centre. The three main streets - Main Street, East Bank and West Bank are interconnected by alleyways known as ‘ginnels’, which are well worth exploring. The village of Winster is famous for its Morris dancers, the annual Shrove Tuesday pancake race, and the Secret Gardens of Winster event in July.

The cottage was very well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a weeks stay at the Dell. The welcome pack and the fresh flowers were a lovely touch also. the village of Winster has a community shop which we found very useful and the minors standard pub at the back of the property was a proper pub good drink and food menu.we found the hosts and the pub regulars very friendly. The cottage is very central for Bakewell ,Buxton and all that the peak district has to offer and lovely walks to from the cottage itself. Thank you to our lovely hosts for the loan of the dell for a few days .We will definitely be back .

The house is absolutely spotless and has everything you need for your stay. A welcome pack also awaits you when you arrive. It’s in an ideal setting for exploring the Peak District or just staying local to relax and enjoy the property. A pub, is a short walk behind The Dell that does food and now has a cafe where you can enjoy a good breakfast too. The owners are very approachable and welcoming. Will definitely be back again!
