Wirksworth 4.2 miles. The delightful Derbyshire village of Brassington is home to this wonderful annexe cottage, Walton House, boasting rustic stonework and high, vaulted ceilings. This lovely home from home is perfect for a small family, a couple or two couples seeking a base near to the Peak District, and within easy reach of Matlock and Carsington Water too. After driving through the picture perfect stone cottages lining the streets of Brassington, park up in your off-road space by the cottage, before heading inside via the dining room French doors. Begin by admiring the dramatic vaulted and beamed ceiling, exposed stone walls and traditional stone steps, with a dining table positioned in the centre of the space for enjoying delicious home-cooked meals. The kitchen can be found to the right, offering a compact but well-equipped area to rustle up your go-to dishes, including a combi microwave, electric oven and hob, and fridge. Take the open-tread wooden staircase up to the first floor to discover the heart of the home, the sitting room, where a woodburning stove adds warmth and ambiance to this relaxing setting, with sofas to unwind on and a TV to enjoy, along with Velux windows amidst the Apex beams and ceiling to illuminate the space. Useful offroad parking, loved the village, walks around it and great location for visitors attractions. Would recommend Sunday roast at local Old Gate Inn and well worth a visit to The Red Lion Hognaston.
