Porthleven 3.4 miles. Enjoying a coastal spot with sea views is this lovely granite-stone, semi-detached cottage in the village of Rinsey on the south coast of Cornwall. Near to the most southerly port Porthleven, this barn conversion offers a delightful base for a family or group of seven, with an array of bedrooms to suit a host of different parties. Be welcomed into the first sitting room on arrival, where a multi fuel stove eagerly awaits you to get it fired up and then settle down on the sofas arranged around the hearth, a perfect spot to warm your toes after a winter coastal walk. The kitchen/diner echoes a farmhouse style, with a wooden dining table presenting a place for all to gather for hearty breakfasts, quick lunches, or evening feasts with all hands on deck to help. Use the range of excellent appliances to rustle up some tasty treats, while the French doors stand opened out to the garden on summer days as the children play in the garden. Use the charming walled garden as a sanctuary at the end of the day with a glass of wine in hand as you admire the tranquillity of the area and reflect on another wonderful day. The utility room holding the washing machine also lies on the ground floor along with the spacious family bathroom, offering a bath and a shower over. Head upstairs to wind down with some evening TV in the second sitting room, sink into one of the two sofas beneath the wood-beamed apex ceiling with velux windows flooding in the natural light, and dual aspect windows providing views of both the countryside and the sea. When it's time for some rest, find three bedrooms all providing pleasant sleeping spots, with a king-size room, a family room with a double and a single, and a twin, offering a layout great for many group types. Completing the interior is a shower room which has a separate cloakroom with a basin and WC next door, so there's less waiting in line for the bathroom! Begin exploring the area by spending time down on Rinsey Beach, travel down the footpath and man-made cut in the cliff to come to this secluded haven on the coast, with great fishing found off the rocks of the cove, while ‘Ray Pool’ provides a large tidal pool which is great for enjoying a pleasant swim. Head to the historic village of Porthleven for your amenities and shops, with this settlement being the most southerly working port, you can purchase fresh catches for a delicious evening meal, or visit one of the village’s restaurants serving indulgent seafood. Hop onto the South West Coastal Path which is practically on your doorstep, taking you to the charming village of Praa Sands with a gorgeous stretch of sandy beach, or continue on to Marazion where you can stop in one of the restaurants to enjoy a meal backed by the sun going down on St Michael’s Mount after you’ve explored this tidal island which is home to a Norman church and a medieval castle. Kernyk offers the perfect place to base yourself for a fantastic Cornish retreat.
Porthleven is a large village resting on the southern coast of Cornwall, offering a picturesque harbour with a working port. Visitors and tourists flock to the village when storms rage to watch the waves crash against the sea defences. Perfect for those who want a sunny walking holiday, the coastal path provides an ideal way to explore the area. Porthleven is very popular with experienced surfers who can handle some tough waves, but if that’s not for you then simply enjoy the sand and pebble beach which stretches on for three miles to Loe Bar and Gunwalloe Cove. The cottage is welcoming, spacious and quirky and the location is absolutely beautiful. Walk a short distance to the coast path and turn left for Praa Sands with an idyllic beach, turn right for Porthleven with itâs iconic clock tower and pasty shops!
