About this property

Looe 7.4 miles. 10 Stonerush Valley is a beautiful lodge settled into the tranquil Cornish countryside of Lanreath near Looe. With ample amenities it is the ideal base for a family looking for a getaway to Cornwall. Park off-road and be welcomed into an opulent lodge with a light and airy atmosphere, discovering a tastefully decorated open-plan living space boasting an inviting seating and dining area, and fully equipped kitchen which makes the most of the bright and spacious interior. Here you can cook up a storm which can be enjoyed at the dining table, before settling into the sitting area for a movie marathon. From here, head out onto the private decking area to take advantage of the spectacular views, as well as to dine alfresco, or enjoy an indulgent dip in the hot tub. The two bedrooms in the lodge are inviting, with a master double bedroom with its own en-suite, whilst the second is arranged as a twin with glimpses of the surrounding countryside to wake up to every day that goes by. Finally, the all-white family bathroom completes the accommodation with bath and overhead shower. Set at the heart of Stonerush Lakes and within an easy walk of your lodge lies the Old Mill lakeside bar and restaurant offering a charming venue for a delicious meal or a relaxing drink by the wood fire or out on the deck overlooking Miller’s Island. The small coastal town of Pelynt is just four miles away, and the harbour towns of Fowey, Looe and Polperro are just a short drive away too. Here you will find many fantastic beaches to explore, as well as convenience stores for your essentials, eateries, watersports facilities, and more. Other close by attractions include St Catherine's Castle, Fowey Aquarium, Pinetum Gardens, and Shipwreck Treasure Museum. If you could can draw yourself away from the 28 acres of picturesque countryside then 10 Stonerush Valley will be the perfect base to explore and enjoy Cornwall.

Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. You can also catch the river taxi between East and West Looe. East Looe has narrow cobbled streets, twisting alleyways and plenty of tourist shops, whilst West Looe has a lovely outlook across the harbour. Looe’s viewpoint, Banjo Pier, can be reached from the quay and is a great spot to watch the returning fishing trawlers and look across the bay to Looe Island, which can be walked to occasionally at very low tides. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. There is also a great rock pool area at Hannafore that children will love. West Looe has a Heritage Centre that recently opened in the Old Sardine Factory with a climbing wall and a cafe and the delightful Kilminorth Woods have way marked walks through the majestic oak wood, rich in plant, insect and bird life. Apart from beach activities in this part of south east Cornwall, there are many mining remains on Bodmin Moor and in the Tamar Valley and much of the mining landscape has World Heritage status. This area of Cornwall has inspired writers, such as Daphne du Maurier and much of Bodmin Moor has inspired legends linked with King Arthur. There is much to explore in this beautiful part of Cornwall.

Lodge and bedding clean. Will return. Just a few points to be rectified. Needs more knives forks spoons when four people occupying. Rad in twin room TRV not working. Both showers leaking and need servicing. Two gas rings not working correctly. Needs rubber mats for both bathrooms as very slippery in bath and shower. Hot tub suitable for two. The lodge is furnished well. Outside furniture comfortable. Steve

The hot tub was very welcome after a day walking. We would certainly recommend and hope to be back soon.

It would be good to have something’s to do for children in the future, incase you want to have a chill day at the lakes. A wooden park or forest trail. But our kids and ourselves loved it.
