Guests say

Shilling Stones is a well-loved cottage in Port Isaac, praised for its stunning sea views and excellent location. Guests appreciate the quality furnishings, well-equipped kitchen, and comfortable beds. The property's garden and parking are added bonuses. While some minor issues with cleanliness and maintenance were noted, the overall sentiment is positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

Most guests found Shilling Stones clean and comfortable, though a few mentioned areas where cleanliness could be improved, such as dusty window sills and a dirty rug. The kitchen and bathrooms were generally found to be clean.

The location is highly praised for its fantastic sea views and proximity to local amenities in Port Isaac. The steep climb to the property is noted, but it does not detract from the overall positive feedback about the location.

Guests find the beds very comfortable and the property cozy, with a good-sized lounge and bedrooms. Some guests mentioned issues with windows not opening and a lack of fans, which affected their comfort during hot weather.

The property is well-equipped, especially the kitchen, and guests appreciate the parking and garden. However, there were comments about the need for more mugs, plates, and a four-slot toaster, as well as suggestions for a BBQ and fans for warmer weather.

While guests have not specifically mentioned gifts, there is a suggestion for a welcome pack with basic provisions. As gifts are not referenced in the reviews, a score cannot be provided for thoughtfulness.

About this property

A reverse-level property, the open-plan kitchen, living and dining area, with plush sofas and modern kitchen design, is set on the first floor to make the most of the spectacular views of the Cornish coastline and sea. Off the living space is a master bedroom with king-size bed, en-suite bathroom with shower over bath and WC, and incredible views of Cornwall. On the ground-floor you will find two further bedrooms, one twin, and one with bunk beds, a family bathroom, and access to the external utility room from the rear patio. There is plenty of space to sit outside and enjoy the views as well; the cottage has a small patio area at the front of the house as well as an enclosed garden at the rear with a lawned area and a raised stone patio area with garden furniture – a perfect spot for al-fresco dining. A short walk will take you down to the harbour and village of Port Isaac, a place made famous by the TV series Doc Martin and singing group, Fisherman's friends. Discover a plethora of fantastic amenities including shops and supermarkets to keep your cupboards full, and a lovely selection of pubs and restaurants when you fancy a night away from the kitchen. Spend a day at the glorious sandy beach with a traditional batch of fish and chips, or try your luck at thrilling watersports at Rock Beach. Make memories with your loved ones at Shilling Stones.

Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. There is ample parking at the top of the village and the village is a popular tourist destination with plenty of attractions including the dramatic Doyden Castle, the beautiful Lundy Bay and the famous Doc Martin's clinic. There are also plenty of pubs, restaurants, and shops in the village. Just a short drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike.

Would recommend and would definitely stay there again if we return to Port Isaac. Thanks

Although the property sleeps six I would say it would be more comfortable for a maximum of 4 adults. It was lovely to have the garden to relax in and the view of sunsets from the front of the property were beautiful. The shops, pubs, cafes and harbour of Port Isaac are about 10 minutes walk, the walk back up to the cottage is a little steep until you get used to it. Having parking at the property was a big bonus and with the property being a short walk from the harbour area you don’t have to negotiate the narrow lanes of Port Isaac. Port Isaac is a good base from which to explore North Cornwall. At the front of the property is a footpath leading after a short walk to Port Gaverne. My only suggestion would be to provide a small welcome tray of a few tea bags, coffee and sugar sachets and milk. After a seven hour drive then unpacking not having to walk to the co-op would have been a massive bonus.
