Culverwells is a well-loved cottage in Devon, praised for its beautiful views, spacious and cosy interiors, and a large, secure garden ideal for children and pets. Guests have enjoyed the property's peaceful location, comfortable furnishings, and the thoughtful touches like a welcoming bottle of wine. While some minor maintenance issues and restrictions on pet access were noted, the overall experience has been overwhelmingly positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.
The cottage is consistently described as clean and well-maintained, with guests expressing satisfaction with its tidiness. There are no significant complaints regarding cleanliness, indicating a high standard is being met.
The location is highly praised for its beautiful countryside views, peacefulness, and proximity to local attractions. The village is friendly, with a community shop and pub, and the property is well-situated for exploring both Devon and Dorset.
Guests find the beds very comfortable and the living spaces cosy and accommodating. However, some guests noted the sofas were low, which may affect the elderly, and a suggestion for a stair gate indicates room for improvement in comfort for all guests.
The property is well-equipped with a conservatory, jacuzzi bath, and a large garden with a trampoline and swing. Some guests mentioned low doorways and the need for clearer instructions on waste management. The restriction on pet movement within the house was a concern for some.
While guests have mentioned thoughtful gestures such as a bottle of local wine on arrival, there is not enough information to determine if such gifts are a consistent offering. Therefore, it is politely noted that such gestures, while appreciated, are not guaranteed.

The lovely market town of Axminster has been made famous by the well-known organic shop and canteen in the area, which were introduced by TV presenter Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. Nestled in outstanding peaceful countryside, Axminster is certainly a place to relax and unwind. Famous for its carpets, which are often likened to Turkish examples, it is one of Devon’s prettiest smaller towns. Situated on the River Axe and within easy reach of both the West Dorset and East Devon Jurassic Coast, Axminster has many attractions, including plenty of privately owned shops, a weekly market and excellent old inns, with one dating back 100 years with its own resident ghost! We find itâs an excellent family accommodation. We were 5 adults & one 3 year old, & she had plenty to occupy her in the home & surrounding farmland. Glad to see the recycling has been sorted too.

Grandchildren loved playing on the trampoline and tree swing, they also enjoyed racing around the gardens and playing hide and seek. Simply perfect.
