It was a good base for us whilst we viewed properties in the area and it was perfect for Dartmoor exploration. On arrival, there were a few issues though.....toilets, sinks, the bin, multiple surfaces and floors hadn't been properly cleaned; there was a loose toilet seat and both showers were faulty; the hoover didn't work properly; numerous kitchen items were dirty and there was no kindling in the 'starter pack' for the fire. Elsewhere, there was no bedside lighting in the main bedroom (there were two small battery operated lights in there with flat batteries) and we weren't left a 'welcome pack' as per previous guests. The owner doesn't live close by so is presumably reliant on local support to manage the property for her, and she has clearly been let down. However, the property could definitely be enhanced to make it feel homely and lived-in (eg. artwork on bedroom and lounge walls; books & games on the empty shelves in the lounge; better 'soft' lighting in the bedrooms and lounge for reading and relaxing). Overall, despite feeling very disappointed at the condition of the property at the start, we made the best of our time here, and would recommend this property as a place with HUGE potential but one that would benefit from more hands-on management to make sure that guests settle in without any issues.

The welcome pack provided was very much appreciated. One very minor observation was made about the seating in the lounge - the seats were very comfortable, but not easy to rise from. Having recieved a welcome email from the owner , Sharon, this was duly mentioned to her aand noted for future referenceThe parking was more than adequate, . We found that by turning right out of the cottage and travelling under the bridge, it was quicker access to more major roads for onward journeys. However as the village roads are quite narrow, I can imagine that this direction may prove a little difficult for larger vehicles. All in all we had a wonderful stay - thyank you.

It has everything needed for a great holiday with comfy beds & a large garden unfortunately we had to cut the holiday short due the severe storms but would definitely recommend to anyone. The only draw back we had was from a neighbor who claimed we were smoking cannabis! but the problem was quickly cleared up by Sharron the owner
