Guests say

High Bullen Lodge receives high praise for its exceptional views, comfortable and well-equipped accommodation, and welcoming hosts. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches, such as homemade scones and wine, and the property's dog-friendly features. Its location offers easy access to walks and the Jurassic Coast, making it an ideal retreat for relaxation and exploration.

The lodge is consistently described as clean and tidy, with only one mention of a few dirty corners. This suggests a high standard of cleanliness overall.

The location is highly praised for its stunning views, easy access to walks, and proximity to the Jurassic Coast. The convenience of the location is a recurring theme in the reviews.

Guests find the lodge extremely comfortable, cosy, and warm, with only a single concern about the suitability of the flooring for an elderly dog. Overall, the comfort level is rated very highly.

While the reviews mention well-equipped facilities and thoughtful amenities, there is insufficient detail to accurately score maintenance. Therefore, this score is set to null.

The hosts are frequently commended for their thoughtfulness, including welcome gifts such as homemade scones, wine, and cream teas. It is politely noted that while these gifts are greatly appreciated, they are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

The Lodge is located at the top of a private road, which also serves the owner property and High Bullen cottage, seconds off the A35. The Timber Lodge was installed by the owners to take in the amazing panoramic views across the Dorset countryside and down to the sea, offering something special, with a definite “WOW FACTOR”. Inside, the holiday décor of the lodge, with the open plan living space, large windows, high ceiling and white woodburner makes it a perfect place to relax. The skandi vibe also makes the Lodge feel special in both summer and the colder months. Take in the views through the patio doors, opening out onto the three meter wide deck and stroll through the private shingle garden with established sub-tropical planting. To the back of the Lodge are a master King size bedroom with en-suite bathroom and shower, and a twin bedroom with high quality full size adult beds, plus a separate family bathroom, containing both bath and overhead shower.

The property is all on one level, with a few external steps to access, and private parking for one car.

The pretty village of Chideock (pronounced Chiddick) can be found straddling the main A35 road between Bridport and Honiton, in glorious West Dorset. Many of the quaint cottages lining the road are constructed of cob and the honey-coloured local sandstone. Lying within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty the area has plenty of lovely walks, whilst just 1 mile away is Dorset's Jurassic Coast, famed for its fossils and ease of finding them, where a walk along the coastal path affords spectacular views across the sparkling waters of Lyme Bay towards Portland, Chisel beach and the Devon coast. A short drive east takes you to the ancient rope-making town of Bridport, and the harbour at West Bay, or venture west to visit the picturesque seaside resort of Lyme Regis. An excellent holiday base from which to explore this scenic area.

The lodge was immaculate with everything you might need for a holiday stay - excellent bedding, towels all included. The addition of a surprise homemade cream tea and prosecco added to the perfection. Plenty of outdoor space to relax and soak up the glorious views across to Golden Cap. We very much hope to return to High Bullen Lodge in the near future and recommend it to anyone needing to totally relax.
