Nice, well equipped and comfortable cottage. Lovely views, quiet location, pub is 25 minute stroll on a quiet lane, or about 40 minutes if you take the longer route. Plenty to see in the area. Shops about 5 miles.

My husband and I like to book with Rural Retreats as we prefer a peaceful, quiet holiday in a comfortable setting, more so now that my husband has a serious chronic medical condition. Orchard View is a very comfortable, well-equipped and tastefully-decorated home-from-home with a lovely private garden. How it was that we were there when a local farmer's contractors were thundering up and down the lane every 20 minutes from 6am until very late in the evening moving silage wagons was, I suppose, down to sheer bad luck for us. The front door and master bedroom above it are approximately 8 metres from the lane so we got the full force of the noise and even some vibration. Our grievance is that, despite Rural Retreats' assurance that they have never received any such complaints previously, this cannot have been a 'one-off' incident and we were given no warning either by the company or the owners, who live next door, that it might happen. Our mornings and evenings were constantly disturbed by the noise. Even sitting in the little summerhouse, which backs on to the lane, was unpleasant. We suggest that you check with the owners before booking if you are likely to be bothered by exceptional traffic noise.
