Guests say

Netherscar is a well-loved cottage in the Yorkshire Dales, praised for its stunning views and peacefulness. Guests enjoy the local walks, cosy fires, and the property's character. Some minor maintenance issues are noted, but the overall experience is positive, with many returning visitors.

The cottage is generally described as clean and well-kept, with guests noting improvements and a comfortable environment. However, a few comments about a need for a deep clean and a wet wall suggest there is room for enhancement.

The location is highly praised for its tranquility, beautiful views, and proximity to walking paths. The remote setting is considered a highlight, contributing to the overall positive experience.

Guests find the cottage cosy, especially with the fire lit, and the beds comfortable. Some discomfort is mentioned due to a broken spring in a mattress and an L-shaped sofa, indicating that while generally comfortable, some furnishings could be improved.

The property is appreciated for being well-equipped, with mentions of a functional kitchen and good Wi-Fi. However, issues with heating control, water quality, and appliance usability suggest that some facilities require attention and maintenance.

Guests mention receiving eggs, jams, and bottled water upon arrival, indicating a level of thoughtfulness. It should be noted that such gifts, while appreciated, may not be guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Ingleton 5 miles; Hawes 12 miles.

A detached house situated in a haven of peace and tranquillity and offering arguably one of the best views in England. The property is situated at the end of a private road in the scattered hamlet of Chapel-le-Dale and offers incredible views of Ingleborough and distant views of the Ribblehead Viaduct. It offers comfortable and well-equipped accommodation and there is excellent walking from the doorstep. Ideal for an 'away from it all' holiday.

The attractive village of Ingleton is nestled beneath Ingleborough, one of the famous ‘Three Peaks' on the western edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Offering a wide range of shops, pubs and places to eat, the winding streets of this pretty village all converge on a central market place. A mile outside of Ingleton and down the Hawes road are the well known White Scar Caves. Open to the public, these caves display a huge number of caverns full of stalactites and stalagmites, with one cave home to a huge underground lake. The superb ‘Falls Walk' offers an interesting circuit which takes in some of the impressive cascading waterfalls of the area whilst the proximity to both the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake distract make this an excellent place for walkers.

Having been to the cottage some years ago we were pleasantly surprised to see the improvements made. The cottage is clean, the beds very comfortable, the shower has reasonably good pressure and the wood burner both essential and enjoyable. And when you are lucky with the weather you won’t find a more beautiful view of Ingleborough and Ribblehead Viaduct without moving from the comfort of your armchair! We also appreciated how friendly and helpful the owner was when we needed help with a couple of issues. We have pointed out to Sykes that their listing needs updating to show that towels are provided and that mobile reception is limited to EE.
