Crag Cottage in Settle is praised for its cleanliness, cosy comfort, and excellent location, ideal for exploring the Yorkshire Dales. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and thoughtful touches like milk in the fridge and bedside torches. While some minor maintenance issues and a lack of certain consumables were noted, the overall experience is highly regarded, with many guests eager to return and recommend the cottage to others.
The cottage is consistently described as very clean and tidy, with several reviews highlighting its spotless condition. However, a few minor comments about unemptied bins and a smelly log fire slightly affect the score.
The location is highly praised for its convenience to local amenities and proximity to beautiful walks, with fantastic views across Settle. The central yet private setting is a highlight for many guests.
Guests find the cottage cosy and comfortable, with a lovely sitting area, comfortable beds, and a fab shower room. Some guests mentioned that the second bedroom and bed size may not be ideal for adults, which slightly impacts the score.
The cottage is well-appointed with good WiFi and a well-stocked kitchen. However, there are comments about the lack of logs for the burner, the need for a Bluetooth speaker, and limited consumables like dishwasher tablets and toilet paper, indicating room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.
While guests appreciate the thoughtful touches like milk in the fridge and torches by the bed, there is no consistent mention of gifts, and some guests were disappointed by the lack of a welcome pack. Therefore, it cannot be guaranteed that gifts will be provided, and the score is set to null due to insufficient information.

Recommend the views over the dales from the elevated position. House very comfortable though some cleaning could be improved. Also, a little mean with the necessities, no washing up liquid and limited toilet rolls! I nit pick but just takes off the shine. Would stay again.

.. we took our rubbish home ....the log fire (we didn't use ) had embers in the grate and ash in the tray ... I cleaned that out... as it was a bit smelly when the wind was blowing ... the fridge... freezer compartment was iced up, and something was frozen in there so we couldn't put anything in .... I cleaned the lounge window inside and out as the sun shone thro there and it was driving me mad .....we have a lovely break in a special cottage and loved the weather we had which was a real bonus ...and

The kitchen could have been better stocked. There wasnât that much cutlery and there were no spoons/ spatulas for stirring/ frying. Unfortunately the oven has been left with a dirty baking tray inside. The ice box in the fridge needed defrosting and therefore couldnât be used. There are only three dishwasher tablets provided so I would suggest bringing/buying your own as I can see that this has been commented on before and no changes have been made. The windows in most of the rooms could have done with a clean. No issues with living rooms or bedrooms - has clearly been vacuumed and clean bedding and towels available. The main issue for me was the faint smell of sewage from the toilet. It was a saniflo toilet and upon looking this up they are designed to be flushed daily. I used the property after it had been vacant for a week. The smell may therefore may not be an issue generally. Worth noting that there is no door to the kitchen so smell of cooking and noises from the dishwasher and washing machine will spread to the living area. The owners manual stated that this was the first year that the property had been let and I would suggest that once the cleaning/ maintenance issues are ironed out and if the owners take a slightly less frugal approach to providing consumables then it will be a cottage worth staying at.
