The Bolt 'Ole in Filey is praised for its superb location, close to amenities and the beach. Guests appreciate the property's cleanliness and the thoughtful welcome box with treats. However, some guests mention discomfort due to an uncomfortable bed and damp issues, which also affect the property's maintenance score.
Reviews are mixed regarding cleanliness. Some guests found the property to be super clean, while others reported issues with dampness and uncleanliness in certain areas. The presence of both positive and negative feedback leads to a score above average.
The location is consistently praised for being close to local amenities and the beach, making it an ideal spot for visitors looking to explore Filey. The high score reflects the positive reception of the property's location.
Comfort receives a lower score due to several guests mentioning an uncomfortable bed and issues with dampness affecting their stay. While some guests were satisfied, the negative experiences regarding comfort are significant.
Facilities are generally well-received, with the property being equipped for a break away. However, there are notable concerns about maintenance, such as the need to reseal the shower and address dampness, which impacts the score.
The welcome box with goodies is frequently mentioned and appreciated by guests, indicating thoughtfulness. However, as not all reviews mention this, and to ensure expectations are managed, it is noted that such treats are a lovely touch but not guaranteed.

Filey, located in the stunning Filey Bay, is a classic English seaside town with a welcoming attitude that offers a relaxing break and is the perfect spot to stay for walkers and wildlife watchers throughout the year. A low headland that guards Filey Bay, Filey Brigg offers excellent year-round opportunities for marine and bird watching. Some 250,000 seabirds spend the summer at the 400-foot-tall Bempton Cliffs (rspb Reserve) south of Filey Bay. With its unique stores, winding lanes, and ginnels, the town has maintained much of its charm. There is also a slipway where local fisherman keep their boats, as well as charming beach huts that can be rented during the summer. Two promenades surround the sea, and there are a number of gardens where brass bands perform on Sundays. The Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park, Alpamare UK waterpark, and the Filey Dams Nature Reserve, a wetland reserve where a variety of common and uncommon species can be viewed, are just a few of the many family-friendly attractions in this little town. You can reach the larger town of Scarborough in a short drive, where you'll find fantastic beaches, a castle, the Rotunda Museum, and the well regarded Sea Life Centre. Bridlington, Whitby, Hornsea, and Saltburn are some nearby towns that are worth visiting and show the energy of the lovely North Yorkshire region.

Broken toilet seat which was offered to be repaired on day 2, we declined. Shower lukewarm, again offered repair but we declined as it was our holiday and these should have been checked prior. One toilet roll, no bin bag in kitchen bin. A stained rug in hallway, we rolled it up for the duration of our stay. Light fitting in lounge hanging off, Kitchen well equipped and clean, bed comfy. Towels provided felt damp. Great location, dog friendly. BBQ not really accessible as described, back not enclosed. No guest book explaining how things work, what bins to use etc. We enjoyed our stay very much, I just think a little more thought is needed

Flat clean and tidy and well equipped. Tastefully decorated. Welcome box was a nice touch. However we found a lot of black mould behind bed - previous guest had reported mould on several walls in visitors book - and cleaned walls themselves but couldnt reach mould behind bed. However when we arrived this mould had not been dealt with and small amount of mould remained in second bedroom as well. - No instruction booklets for cooker radiators or microwave. We worked out how to operate the radiators but all radiators were off when we arrived and it took several hours to warm the flat up. Managed to turn radiators down when we left (as requested by owners).

It had damp walls in every room and dirty nearly in every room and shower , and my partner spent 2 hours cleaning, so won't be staying there again
