The views from the living room were lovely.

It’s a lovely cottage with a quirky upside down layout which I enjoyed, there is enough space for the days when the weather’s bad and people need their own space to do their own thing. I guess the elephant in the room is the path up to the house, it’s long and uphill, so not for everyone, personally I was glad of the opportunity to get a bit fitter. The rubbish recycling situation needs some explanation, one bag for paper and cardboard, another bag for cans and bottles, bags for food waste, but no bag for plastic. On arrival our outside dustbin was already full, it should have been emptied, we contacted the help line and were told to take our rubbish and the black bin liner from the dustbin down to the road on Wednesday ready for collection on Thursday, that seemed to work, but what about all the rubbish sorting we’d done, was that a waste of time?

1 Briarhurst is a very well appointed cottage in such a lovely location. There are views of Mumbles beach from the lounge and the house is large, comfortable and well equipped. The cottage is walking distance from town, the seafront and Bracelet Bay (if you don’t mind hills!) I really recommend walking via the coastal path if you have time, it is so beautiful and my children loved discovering the remnants of the WWII Home Front! There is so much to do and see in the area, we were spoilt for choice. Nishimura restaurant at the bottom of the hill is amazing! Caswell beach was fun and Rhossilli beach is a stunning highlight slightly farther away. Swansea has lots to offer families on rainy days too, Oriel Science was great. The cottage was a brilliant place to spend time and the hills and carrying our suitcases kept us fit!
