Guests say

Cwm Eilir is a spacious property with stunning sea views and a prime location for exploring North Wales. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds, ample parking, and the proximity to the beach and local amenities. While some guests have suggested improvements, the house's position and potential for a delightful stay are consistently praised.

The property has received mixed feedback on cleanliness. While some guests found it adequately cleaned, others noted issues with cobwebs, a damp smell, and the presence of insects. It appears that a deeper clean could enhance the overall experience.

The location is highly praised for its beautiful sea views, proximity to the beach, and ease of access to local attractions and amenities. It serves as an excellent base for exploring Snowdonia and the surrounding areas.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the house spacious, with a pleasant terrace and well-equipped kitchen. However, some guests mentioned issues with dampness and a lack of homely touches, suggesting room for improvement in overall comfort.

The property is well-equipped but has several maintenance issues, such as problems with showers, windows, and appliances. An update and repair of these facilities would likely improve guest satisfaction.

Guests have mentioned complimentary items such as Welsh cakes and mince pies, which are a thoughtful touch. However, it's important to note that such gifts are not guaranteed and may vary with each stay.

About this property

Set in a prime position in the seaside town of Criccieth in Gwynedd is this homely, detached, holiday home, Cwm Eilir. With views over to two castles from the front garden, Criccieth and Harlech, and two sitting rooms, this spacious home is ideal for a gathering of family or friends. On arrival at the property, roadside parking greets you, before making your way up the stairs to enter the property. Step into the hallway, where on your left you can find the smaller of two sitting rooms, ideal if you want to break away from the group and take in the views, and further along the second sitting room, home to a toasty woodburning stove. From here, the dining room provides you with a place to plan your itinerary before dinner is served. The chef of the group can whip up a delicious meal in the kitchen, which hosts an electric oven and hob, before taking advantage of the dishwasher to help with the cleanup. After a busy day and a home-cooked meal, head upstairs for some rest; a king-size and a double room offer handy en-suite shower rooms, while another king-size and a single are served by a bathroom, so everyone has somewhere to prepare for the day ahead! Explore your surroundings with a stroll down to the beach, where you can see Castell Criccieth up-close, before stopping for a spot to eat at the popular Dylan’s Restaurant. The town centre is also within walking distance and is filled with plenty of pubs and eateries, as well as a museum, ice cream parlours and a golf club for any avid golfers in your party. The unique, Italianate village of Portmeirion is reachable by car and well worth the visit for those fascinated by striking architecture and quaint boutiques. For a historic day out, the coastal town of Caernarfon, known for its magnificent castle is within reach, while the glorious Snowdonia National Park makes the perfect day out for its wealth of outdoor activities and picture-perfect scenery. Bring your loved ones for a seaside break at Cwm Eilir.

Criccieth, known as the "Pearl of Wales on the coast of Snowdonia," is a charming seaside resort 5 miles from Porthmadog. The town's 13th-century castle towers over Tremadog Bay and the Snowdonia mountains on a rocky outcrop. The two beaches are perfect for watersports, and Snowdonia National Park is nearby for hikers and cyclists. Walk along the beaches, see porpoises in the surf, or relax in bars, restaurants, and tea rooms with Cadwalader's ice cream.

A comfortable house with the added benefits of a day room leading out onto a south facing terrace, separate sitting room and three double bedrooms. The kitchen is exceedingly well equipped and the dining room an added bonus. There is a downstairs loo and small shower rooms to two bedrooms as well as a full bathroom. One or two problems re general maintenance have been mentioned previously and could be a problem to some. But we really enjoyed our week here, felt totally comfortable, enjoyed the facilities and the house really made our great grandsons first seaside holiday a big hit. We all loved Criccieth too.

Everything you need in the kitchen. Wonderful views.

The house was well equipped and was cleaned well. The garden was well kept and had a host of wildlife (rabbits, stoat, young robin, young blackbird, young thrush and bats doing laps and aerial acrobatics in the garden in the evenings). Easy walking distance to the beach and to the shops, and plenty of parking down the side of the house. Suggestions for improvement - a better "information pack" for visitors, including instructions for emptying and putting out the bins, and perhaps use the notebook for guests to record any maintenance issues/improvements. Thank you for the Welsh Cakes on our arrival.
