Guests say

Morfin is a well-received holiday cottage in Criccieth, praised for its cleanliness, stunning views, and prime location close to the beach and local amenities. Guests appreciate the comfortable furnishings, well-equipped kitchen, and thoughtful touches from the owners, including welcome gifts. While parking can be challenging and the garden may need attention, the overall experience is highly regarded, with many guests eager to return.

The majority of guests found Morfin to be very clean and welcoming. There were a few mentions of dog hairs and dust in isolated areas, but these were minor and did not detract from the overall positive feedback on cleanliness.

The location is consistently praised for its proximity to the beach, local shops, and attractions like Cadwaladers Ice Cream. The stunning views and ease of access to nearby amenities contribute to a high score in this category.

Guests describe the property as comfortable, with special mentions of the quality mattresses and cosy living room. Some guests noted the double bed was not king-sized and the stairs were steep for older guests, but overall, the comfort level is rated highly.

Facilities at Morfin are generally well-regarded, with a well-stocked kitchen and the inclusion of two bathrooms. However, some guests mentioned that the garden could be better maintained and a few minor maintenance issues were raised, slightly lowering the score.

The owners' thoughtfulness is frequently mentioned, with guests appreciating welcome gifts such as cake and fruit. It should be noted that while these gestures are warmly received, they are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Morfin is a very comfy holiday house, with gorgeous views towards Moel y Gest. Once the home of former Prime Minister David Lloyd George, who lived at Morfin from the age of 16 for ten years. As a solicitor he had his first office in what is now the dining room!

Enjoy the views of the sea and Moel y Gest from the bay window in the relaxed sitting room, where you will find comfy chairs, plenty of books and a good selection of CDs, and a TV with DVD player.

The sitting room opens into the dining room with a glass topped table and chairs, and French windows open into the small but sweet garden.

There is a step up to the long galley kitchen with electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge with ice box and microwave. Next door the utility room has a washing machine and dishwasher and a door out to the garden.

There are three bedrooms, all with a small TV. The double room has lovely calm colours and the most wonderful view across the bay to Moel y Gest and the hills beyond. The twin room has 2'6" beds which are suitable for children.

The comfy little chair on the landing is just the place to sit and daydream, or spend an hour or two reading some of the interesting collection books on David Lloyd George, the only Welsh Prime Minister and 1st Earl of Dwyfor!

There are two steps down to the bathroom with bath, separate shower, loo and wash hand basin.

Go upstairs again to another lovely double bedroom, with even more magnificent views. Tucked away is a very neat little wet room with loo and wash hand basin.

Outside, there is a small pretty terraced garden with table and chairs. Although the garden is enclosed, it isn't dog proof and young children should also be supervised.

Within a short walk from Morfin you can enjoy Criccieth's interesting individual shops, galleries, good restaurants and cafes. One of the best fish and chip shops in North Wales is just up the road, as is the famous Cadwalader's Ice Cream shop.

Morfin is peaceful, calm and relaxing, with soft colours and interesting bits and bobs. I love the lamp in the dining room and the David Lloyd George corner on the landing where you can sit and admire the view or quietly read a book.

A comfy house in a delightful Victorian seaside town.

Often described as the 'Pearl of Wales on the shores of Snowdonia’, this delightful seaside town is situated just 5 miles from Porthmadog. The town’s 13th century castle perches majestically on a rocky outcrop, dominating the skyline and offering superb views of Tremadog Bay and the Snowdonia mountains. Watersports enthusiasts will be delighted by the two beaches, whilst walkers and bikers are spoilt for choice by the proximity of the beautiful Snowdonia National Park. Stroll along the beaches, watch porpoises playing in the surf, or relax in the various pubs, restaurants and tea rooms, sampling the famous Cadwalader’s ice cream. Further afield, attractions such as Portmeirion’s wonderful Italianate gardens, the Ffestiniog railway in Porthmadog, Harlech Castle, Caernarfon Castle and the beautiful beaches and renowned golf courses of the Llyn Peninsula are all within an easy drive.

It is warm, comfortable, beautifully clean and well maintained, plus it is in the perfect location: 2 doors from both Cadwalladers ice cream shop and the best fish and chips! Lovely views from the windows of the sea and the castle from the top floor bedroom skylight, plus from the garden too. I am sure we will be back again :)
