Guests say

Crud yr Awel is a charming and well-received cottage in North Wales & Snowdonia, praised for its cleanliness, cosy atmosphere, and beautiful location. Guests appreciate the warm welcome from the owner and the thoughtful touches, such as welcome gifts. While some minor issues with facilities and comfort are noted, the overall experience is positive, with many guests eager to return.

The cottage consistently receives high marks for cleanliness, with multiple reviews mentioning it being clean and tidy. This suggests that cleanliness is a priority for the property.

The location is frequently described as lovely, with easy access to local attractions and amenities in Bethesda and Bangor. The proximity to Snowdonia and Anglesey is a highlight, although one review mentioned a preference for closer dining options.

Comfort is generally well-regarded, with positive comments about the cosy atmosphere and new mattresses. However, some guests mentioned issues with the double bed and limited head height in single rooms, slightly affecting the score.

Facilities are mostly appreciated, especially the well-equipped kitchen and the log burner. However, some guests noted areas for improvement, such as the need for better kitchen amenities, a blind for the skylight, and maintenance concerns like exposed pipework and damp smells in the bathroom.

Guests often mention the thoughtful welcome gifts, which contribute to a positive experience. However, as gifts are subject to change and not guaranteed, this score reflects the overall thoughtfulness of the host rather than the presence of gifts alone.

It included everything we needed. As OAP’s with dodgy knees we found the two stairs up to the kitchen challenging at times but learnt not to carry things in both hands! For the same reason we didn’t access the garden as much as we might have done. However all in all it is a lovely cottage in a beautiful location and we would happily rent again in the future.

Very clean and tidy. Off road parking was great as the roads are small and lots of vehicles using on-road parking. Cottage had everything we needed. Owner was friendly. Was great for our family of 4 as we have 2 teenagers and they liked having a room each, they just had to remember to duck as 6 foot tall and its a small loft as it states in the description. The only problems we had was the crog loft has a sky-light window and it didn't have a blind so we had to tape cardboard to it to allow sleep otherwise you get up when the sun does! We also couldn't access the woodland walks - went to the end of the garden and through the gap in the wall but then it was all too over-grown to get any further which was a real shame. We did watch the sunset from the raised garden patio which was lovely. Would recommend.

Ideal property for our family of four which we used as as a base to explore the region. Our two teenagers enjoyed themselves as they had a room each! Met the owner who lives close by. A real nice chap who couldn't be more helpful, with great suggestions as to what to do and see in the locality. We would certainly consider going back to the property at some stage. We have used Sykes Holiday Cottages on several occasions and we've always been delighted with the service.
