Guests say

Cefn-Yr-Efail is a spacious and well-presented cottage in North Wales, offering stunning views and a tranquil rural location near Porthmadog. Guests appreciate the property's ideal setting for exploring Snowdonia, its comfortable and clean rooms, and the warm welcome from the host. While some guests mention minor maintenance issues and the need for updates, the overall experience is highly recommended for its charm and amenities.

The cottage generally receives positive remarks for cleanliness, with several guests finding it immaculate. However, a few reviews mention issues with dog hairs, dust, and mould, suggesting room for improvement in this area.

The location is highly praised for its quiet, rural setting with easy access to Porthmadog and surrounding attractions. The beautiful views and proximity to both coast and mountains make it an ideal base for exploring North Wales.

Many guests find the property comfortable, with spacious rooms and good facilities. However, some guests note that the sofas are uncomfortable and the upstairs bedrooms have low ceilings, which affects the overall comfort for some visitors.

The property is well-equipped with a modern kitchen and good quality fixtures. Nonetheless, guests have reported maintenance issues such as non-working extractor fans, loose dining chair legs, and the need for additional cutlery, suggesting that some facilities could benefit from attention.

While guests have mentioned receiving a warm welcome and complimentary fresh eggs, there is not enough consistent information about thoughtful gestures such as gifts to accurately assess this category. Therefore, it cannot be guaranteed that such extras will be provided.

Great grandmother, grandmother, Mum & grandson. We had a very peaceful stay with fantastic views from the house. Gwyn who looks after the house is lovely, he let us know that he was there if we needed him. He gave us helpful information during our stay. The house is lovely, with plenty of cooking utensils, tea towels, cloths & washing up liquid/ cleaning materials. A couple of the dining chairs are in need of work as they are unstable, as are both of the barstool chairs. The settee could also use a bit of tlc, there are a few points where you just sink right down something my 80 year old mum struggled with as she couldn't get back up early out of it herself. Both the double beds ( one downstairs/one in the master bedroom) are superbly comfortable. The single beds which are fine for young children, are not overly comfortable for an adult probably due to their weight difference ( one bed was taken by my 9 year old grandson & the other by my daughter. He found his bed really comfortable & my daughter not at all. They even swapped over but the outcome was just the same. The jacuzzi bath is brilliant, the same can be said for the shower downstairs. The upstairs ensuite shower wasn't used during the stay. There is plenty of space in the property, which is a bonus. Our dog was happy & settled, she did find the living room floor a little slippy initially but once she got used to it, she was fine. Portmadog is not very far away. There are numerous supermarkets & a high street packed with some lovely little independent shops & cafes. Black Rock sands are a must if you have a dog with you, it's sandy & clean. You park on the beach. Criccieth beach isn't far away either, it's a stony beach but still lovely, especially when the tide is out. Take some change with you for the car park. Would we return to Cefn-yr-Efail? Yes... We most certainly would! To the Evans family. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us!
