What our customers say about their holidays
Debbie - Verified booking
The property is in need of a deep clean.
The general work surfaces and appliances in the kitchen were OK and main bathroom amenities and towels/bedding, but throughout the house, there was a general build up of dirt and dust that has obviously not been touched in months, with cobwebs everywhere. You simply had to look at skirting boards, around window frames or under/next to any piece of movable furniture to see that these had certainly not been cleaned prior to our arrival. In the current time, it is inexcusable for cleanliness to be in question and given that Sykes sends a lengthy email prior to departure about cleaning round the house prior to departure as guests (fair enough), there can be no excuse for the house not to be spotless for new arrivals, especially at the price charged. I had text the owner a day after arrival to raise this issue and sent multiple photo examples. The response was apologetic and she arranged for the cleaner to return. However, on the cleaner's return, instead of addressing the whole property, only the specific photo examples were wiped over (this included filth blocking the extractor fan in the shower, sand and food remnants under and around the sofa and dirt along rails and the stairs). After the cleaner's visit, we heard nothing from the owner to check if we were happy with the house. After already messaging the owner on day 2, it became apparent that the ensuite shower was blocked and again, should have been noticed prior to arrival when being cleaned. Either the cleaner did not clean properly or simply did not care about the issue. We did not wish to spend our holiday going back and forth on these issues, so made use of one shower and enjoyed the beautiful view from the terrace - this is stunning and was the best part of our stay. The house otherwise is in a nice location and has decent appliances and amenities for a family stay. After our departure, I had a further exchange with the owner and in short, she implied it was our fault if parts of the house were dirty or a shower drain blocked because we did not specifically raise it point by point. A complaint of a generally dirty house should not ever have been required- does Sykes not require properties to be at a certain standard of cleanliness ? It was a real shame as with a deep clean, this is a cute property in a lovely area with a spectacular view.

Bryn Eiddon is a beautiful gem, the photos and descriptions donât do it justice.
You know you love a property when you go through the loop of thinking âI will play this down a bit because I donât want everyone to know thisâ¦â But Mair the owner is delightful and deserves the recommendation for all her hard work and investment. We were recuperating from Covid from four weeks previously, and had very little energy, so being just 10 minutes walk from the beach was a Godsend. Some days weâd just curl up and look out at the sea and enjoy the sea views and peace. Our only neighbours were sheep and from the beach you can see that Bryn Eiddon is probably the nearest dwelling. The cottage may not have the obligatory hot tub, but it is high spec imo, from the kitchen fittings and equipment, to the general decor, furniture, and the immaculate bathrooms that include a power shower. The under floor heating and high ceilings all add to the light airiness of the property, yet we always felt warm and cozy. Usually we are always glad to get home from a holiday but this time we said we really missed the cottage and said we would definitely return.

We had a wonderful stay at Bryn Eiddon.
The cottage stands alone with no close neighbours and offers fantastic views over the surrounding countryside and to the sea beyond. Inside it is a delight. The living space is generously proportioned with all you need in the fully equipped kitchen/diner area and lovely, comfortable L-shaped sofa in the lounge area with double patio doors leading onto the paved terrace outside from where you can enjoy some spectacular sunsets. There is a large downstairs double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and upstairs a twin bedroom and another shower room. The finish is modern and to a high standard and everywhere was very clean. The property is a stone's throw from Whistling Sands beach, one of the best in the area. All in all a perfect place to relax and base yourself for a visit to this wonderful area. We would definitely stay here again and certainly recommend it to others,

This was a last minute booking, without this we had nowhere booked, everything gone so we took it,my wife was looking at it on way there thinking looking at the photos she was thinking it's on some farm and the look of the property wasn't overly inviting she was thinking were staying at dingle farm(emmerdale) but we didn't have anything booked, all had gone so let's go with it,we got there and first impressions was ok,you drive into a yard that has four rental properties, ours and three smaller let's along side of it,there's plenty of parking available,at the side and back of our property there fields with cows and facing there's a barn type building with a scruffy dirty old caravan stored behind it,its not 5 star to say the least but it's acceptable,we get out of car smirk and think ok we can go with this it's only 3 days then we go inside

We had a lovely time and the property was in a lovely location, with beautiful views.
The property itself was clean but I am disappointed to have to report some negatives. There were 4 of us and we had expected to have 2 bathrooms, but the shower in the en-suite was not working The owner said that someone should have been to fix it on Friday morning but they should really have checked that it had happened. There were no basic products on arrival i.e. toilet rolls, washing up liquid, tea-towel, just basic cleaning products in general. If we had been informed that they would not be provided then we would have ensured we took them with us. I have not stayed at a property, as yet, where these were not provided on arrival, most owners have even provided a welcome pack. The bin top was also broken. I just think it is the attention to detail that makes the difference and feel it necessary to report it.
