What our customers say about their holidays

The cottage was a fabulous place to stay.
There was a welcome pack on arrival (Coffee, tea, sugar, biscuits, bread and milk), the owners exceeded our expectations. A wonderful touch and it was very appreciated. The cottage was well stocked with everything we needed and was furnished to a very high standard. Andrew, the owner, was very helpful and gave advice on the area. We always find showers in holiday cottages a bit of a let down compared to the one we have at home but the owners hadnât skimped on their choice of shower, it certainly matched the one we have at home in both power and space. If you like to be connected to the internet you wonât be disappointed staying here. The TV is run through the internet therefore you have a good choice of channels and whilst we were there we never lost connection on our iPads/computer. This cottage is situated in a lovely area suitable for walkers (I was more than happy), golfers (my husband was spoilt for choice) and a treasure trove of places to visit. There is only one thing I would point out, if you have a problem getting up stairs this cottage may not be for you. This is an old building, beautifully refurbished, however the staircase is not to todayâs requirement, it is a little steeper than modern staircases, there is nothing the owners could do to rectify this. Having said that I would highly recommend this cottage and will hopefully return.

We (family of 4 with 5 and 7 year olds) had a lovely stay at South Lodge Cottage.
Communication with the hosts before and during the stay was excellent, and the homemade cake on arrival was delicious (although we didn't manage to finish it all!!). The cottage itself was very clean and was actually more spacious than we thought it would be. It was very well equipped with everything we needed for a three night stay. Smart TV was useful for catching up with Netflix with a glass of wine once the kids were in bed! Good central heating system which kept us nice and cosy, as well as on demand hot water. Great location too. We visted Dovedale, Derby, Sudbury Hall as well as going slightly further out towards Castleton. Unfortunately, we visited during Storm Dennis, so we couldn't make the most of the beautiful garden although our boys still had a run around out there and looked for fish in the pond. I imagine it would be fantastic on a warm summers day. I would highly recommend this cottage! Thank you for a lovely stay.

Staying in this beautiful cottage gave us the opportunity to experience a slice of idyllic life in a beautiful English countryside (minus the farm work :p).
The views from the back of the cottage are absolutely stunning. We were lucky with the weather so managed to enjoy many meals outside in the back garden against a spectacular landscape of rolling hills, green fields, trees and grazing cows. The cottage is very well equipped (perhaps with a touch too much furniture) and there is even a hairdryer provided in every room. The somewhat small exterior belies the bright and spacious interior. The owners, Tony and Belinda live next door and left us some goodies including milk, eggs and a bottle of wine. The only relative downside is the long and very narrow access road to the cottage. We very much enjoyed our stay and the cottage is in a great location for visiting neighbouring attractions in the Peak District. Thank you to Tony and Belinda.

The location of the property is great - down a gated lane but walkable to the village/ pub etc in 15-20 mins.
The little extras that the owners left for us when we arrived were lovely and started our stay off ideally. The owner met us (lives next door) and was very friendly and helpful with general info - comms prior to arrival were great also. The property itself is finished to a high standard. There is plenty of crockery, cutlery and glassware and a large fridge and large freezer. The oven and hob are OK - a bit slow maybe. Maybe too much furniture in some rooms. Nice private patio behind the property with an amazing view. Silence ! Probably the only thing we would wish improved is to have more than 1 shower - we were 7 people. Plenty of hot water for lots of people though. Thanks for a great stay in a your lovely home - great location to explore the Peaks.

Great place to stay, lovely cottage, even though it's next to the graveyard you don't notice it much because of the beautiful garden.
I wouldn't let yourself be put off by that. As this is next to the road, the traffic was more noticeable than the graveyard, even though that is not too much. Sat out there a few times in the sun. Great walk from the cottage down the tree lined road. Lots of places to visit. Places to visit, in the file could do with updating as the prices and timetables are from 2021 / 2022. I would advise not to use the food bin, as when I used it and tried to empty into the outside bin as requested, the outside bin was full and black, didn't look like it had been emptied at all. Not very nice to see. The contact with Gillian was always prompt and helpful. Thank you for your help.
