  12 Combehaven provided all that I could have asked for for a week's escape.

  I visited as a solo traveller and continued to work while I was there, but the beautiful apartment and fantastic location made it feel like a worthwhile break. I took full advantage of the spa and gym facilities at the Harbour Hotel over the course of the week, and even had a gorgeous massage with 20% off thanks to the passes. Combehaven is in a fantastic position, a short stroll downwards to town and the plethora of gorgeous coffee houses, shops and pubs. Having been visiting Salcombe my whole life, I'm very familiar with the hills which only add to the stunning scenery and views, but for those not familiar with Salcombe, just be warned that it's a bit of a climb back up from town! Thank you to Coast and Country, Harbour Hotel and the owners of 12 Combehaven - I hope to be back very soon!

  Excellent accommodation.

  Lovely studio with fantastic view. We were lucky enough to have good weather so could also enjoy using the balcony which was bigger than expected. Good kitchen facilities. Plenty of cooking utensils. Bathroom very clean, super shower and lovely fluffy towels. There wasn’t anywhere to plug in my hairdryer near to a mirror so I had to buy an extension lead. Comfortable bed and so easy to get down and put away, much easier than a sofa bed. We didn’t bother getting the car out all week as the little ferries were so near and it was easy to walk everywhere from the apartment. Eating out was a bit limited due to places having staffing shortages and therefore not open every day hopefully that will improve with time. Overall an excellent stay which we would recommend.

  Had a lovely holiday.

  Nice new bathroom in the apartment. The kitchen was also very nice, clean and had everything we needed. The rest of the apartment could do with a bit of updating, although it was all very clean and tidy. The only thing that wasn’t that great was the bed…. I thought it was reasonably comfortable, although my partner found it uncomfortable and said it gave him a bad back. Also, there was no headboard, due to the nature of the pull-down design. This meant the pillows kept falling off, down the back of the bed. The balcony was lovely, nice size with comfortable seats and gorgeous views. The communal gardens were also a great place to chill out in the sun. We would return, especially if the bed was improved. Maybe a mattress topper would make it more comfortable.

  34 The Salcombe was a perfect location with stunning views from the balcony .

  A privacy screen between the balconies would have been nice but that didn’t detract from the enjoyment. I know the owner had replaced the mattress recently making the bed very comfortable, this was much appreciated. The apartment had everything that we needed with a super shower. We ate out every day in Salcombe all the pubs and restaurants serving wonderful food , our least favourite being the Harbour Hotel and our favourite being the Crab Shed. Like everyone else it would have been much better to collect and return the keys from reception at the apartments rather than fight with traffic and parking at Coast and Country . Surely there could be some liaison between them regarding this? Overall fantastic break in a beautiful part of our country.

  The cottage is suffering from damp.

  The lower entrance smells musty and the walls are wet making the paint rub off and stain clothing and luggage. There is plaster and paint flaking off the ceiling in the living room, falling on to the sofas. The bathroom toilets are not sturdy. The toilette brush in the lower bathroom was disgusting with faecis sitting in the holder it is a health hazard. The overall cleanliness is the worst we have ever had in a property in Salcombe (visiting for 15 years). It’s so grubby, dust and filth everywhere (under the double bed was particularly disgusting). The washing machine took 16 hours to drain and did not spin the clothes we tried to wash, we had to manually reset the machine to retrieve our clothes. We are very unhappy with the property.
