  What a lovely little find in a great location!

  The hosts of this flat had thought of every comfort, from fleecy throws for chilly toes to plentiful mugs and a lovely welcome pack. The village is ideally located to explore the area in all directions, the port down the hill is so beautiful. I’ve never lived in a flat so hearing others took a bit of getting used to but nothing of note. A few tweaks (dustpan and brush to clean the floor especially after a swim and Sandy toes/clothes, maybe softer bulbs in the lamps) but these are very minor on what is well thought out accommodation with home comforts galore. And the shower…. Hot and powerful to thaw frozen fingers (I do a lot of sea swimming!!) this was a last minute find after our pre booked cottage was cancelled on the day of travel and I have to say I was utterly delighted with our stay. And the neighbours are so so friendly too. The pub round the corner served the best gluten free fish and chips I have had for years. All in all a marvellous stay: and a big thank you to the hosts (I won’t mention the free potato picking post harvest on our walk, my back is still in recovery lol)

  Our first impression when walking in to Stable Lodge was Wow!

  It is extremely welcoming and does not disappoint as you enter each room. The bedrooms are well furnished with plenty of wardrobe space and hangers, and very comfortable beds. The kitchen has everything you need, in fact more than you need! We really appreciated the cake, biscuits, milk, tea, coffee and all the other little extras. The lounge is cosy and comfortable to relax in by the fire. We thought all the different table lights in each room were beautiful. The location is excellent for exploring, only an hour from Edinburgh which was our main reason for choosing Coldstream as I had always wanted to see the castle. We went to various other places too including Berwick upon Tweed and Bamburgh and loved to come 'home' at the end of a day. Coldstream itself is an interesting town with lovely walks, quirky little gift shops, an excellent butchers, and the Besom Inn was worth the visit! I would certainly recommend Stable Lodge and would definitely return if visiting the area again.

  We greatly enjoyed our week at Stable Lodge.

  We were welcomed with a basket of shortbreads and lemon drizzle cake and, on opening the fridge, we discovered a bottle of prosecco. What a start to the holiday! Zoe was also very attentive to ensure that we were comfortable. The cottage itself was very well equipped and homely. It is well located in an attractive square and close to the shops and other amenities of Coldstream. As walkers, we were pleased to be able to access a number of local walks without having to use the car. Coldstream is also conveniently located for walks in the Cheviots and on the Berwickshire and Northumberland coasts. The suggested walks with maps in the cottage information book was a very helpful addition to our own material. In conclusion, Stable Lodge met all our needs and gave us a great base for a very enjoyable holiday.

  Just returned from a lovely week spent at 1 Smiths Wind. Perfect home in an ideal location in the middle of Jedburgh, right off the main street but quiet. So many areas to visit in the local and surrounding areas. We took our 8 month old puppy on his first holiday and he was in his element in the house, not to mention a couple of the local pubs! Everything you could ask for on your doorstep, with handy private parking space just round the corner. Mary Queen of Scots house just a few steps away. The house itself had everything we needed (and more) and was well equipped to a high standard, just like being at home. Friendly neighbours and lovely owner who was very helpful and easy to communicate with. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay here and will definitely return.

  Overall we were okay with the flat.

  Except. Wish we had known before coming that we were expected to take our shoes off indoors as the floors were cold and slippery , area rugs were dangerous as they were not nonskid . Lack of a broom and mop meant a week worth of crumbs etc were on the floors.water was scalding and we did not have instructions to turn down. Entry keypad was too low for people in their 70’s especially in the dark. The bushes at the parking space made it impossible to get in or out of that side of the car, need cut back. Overall could do with better labelling and instructions on how things worked.
