What our customers say about their holidays
Natalie - Verified booking
Although we had a wonderful time in South Devon, we were rather disappointed with Seaspray.
There were several things within the property that did not meet our holiday needs. The single bed is not a standard width size, although our 12 year old child slept ok, there is no way an adult could sleep in that bed and have adequate space. The king size bed is very soft so our backs suffered, and I kept banging my leg on the frame every time I got out of bed as the frame is too wide/chunky for the room, and the chest of drawers too, such a small gap to get around. The property needs a good clean - in particular the kitchen and towel rails in the bathroom. The oven was filthy. Several small things werenât working properly, the toaster, the kitchen clock, the curtain pole in the bedroom. The bath towels are tiny and didnât smell very nice, nor did the hoover. The glass on the bedside tables is dangerous as it kept sliding off, and we werenât keen on the glass dining table - maybe this property is better suited to a mature couple with no children. Although the property description said there was access to a lawned communal shared garden we found nowhere detailing which garden this was. We phoned the management company to ask. Unfortunately there is nowhere to hang or dry swimming/beach towels outside. We didnât feel comfortable using the garden but thatâs our choice. None of this spoilt our holiday as thankfully the weather was lovely so we were out most of the time. Both Smart TVs worked well which was helpful. The flat is in a great location for exploring this beautiful area of Devon - right next to bus stops, and the wonderful village of Stoke Fleming. We wouldnât return to Seaspray but will definitely return to this area again.

We loved our stay at Mallard cottage.
The setting and views were just incredible. Such a peaceful corner of the world. We would recommend the cottage to anyone based on the views and proximity to the water alone. We really enjoyed having the pub close by and there were fantastic walks up the hillside too. The cottage was lovely and equipped with everything we needed and more. It was cosy and comfortable and we really liked the amount of storage space in the bedrooms. The Wi-Fi was intermittent at times. The floors are really creaky and the doors creak & stick which we found difficult with an infant sleeping. Had we not had a baby with us, this wouldnât have bothered us. But it cost us sleep at times which was unfortunate! We were quite confused about the waste disposal, as arrangements are quite different in South Hams from where we live. We didnât find the owners manual or info from coast and country cottages very clear on this. It would have been really helpful to have 2 kitchen bins - 1 for food waste and 1 for everything else. This would have guided us when we didnât know how it worked. There were no extra bin bags provided to dispose of rubbish separately - thankfully we brought extra with us. Finally we wanted to mention the cleaners. They turned up just as we were leaving and were so helpful and polite. They had such a lovely manner about them that we really wanted to pass on how much we appreciated them and how they made us feel upon the end of our holiday. We had a fantastic stay and would love to come again.

The Finest Stays Team - Verified booking
"From the moment we arrived at Serenity, we felt like we’d stumbled upon something truly special. As part of The Finest Stays team, we’ve had the privilege of experiencing some incredible properties, but Serenity stole our hearts with its effortlessly calming vibe and attention to detail. The interiors are beautifully curated—think natural tones, warm woods, and little touches that make you feel instantly at home. The whole place feels like a gentle hug. What we loved most, though, was the balance Serenity offers. It’s right in the heart of Totnes, so we could wander out for coffee, explore the vibrant markets, and soak in the creative, bohemian buzz of the town. But at the end of the day, coming back to Serenity felt like stepping into another world—quiet, peaceful, and utterly relaxing. From lazy mornings sipping coffee on the terrace to evenings curled up in the cosy living room, every moment here felt like a little slice of luxury. Serenity is more than a place to stay—it’s an experience, and one we’ll be raving about to all our friends for sure! "

WE'VE STAYED IN MANY SELF CATERING HOLIDAY LETS AND HAVE GENERALLY FOUND THAT THE QUALITY OF THE ACCOMMODATION REFLECTS THE HOLIDAY, WELL WE HAD A FANTASTIC WEEK IN KINGSWEAR. THE APARTMENT HAS STUNNING VIEWS, WITH BI FOLD DOORS WHICH OPEN ONTO A BALCONY WHICH OVERLOOKS THE MARINA AND ONTO DARTMOUTH AND THE NAVAL COLLEGE. THE APARTMENT IS VERY WELL EQUIPPED AND WOULD APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN VERY RECENTLY REFURBISHED WITH QUALITY FURNITURE AND FITTINGS. THE BEDROOMS ARE A GOOD SIZE, WITH A WELL SIZED EN SUITE TO THE TOP FLOOR AND BATHROOM TO THE LOWER FLOOR. THE APARTMENT COMES WITH A PARKING PASS TO THE NEARBY MARINA, ONLY FIVE MINUTES WALK IF THAT AND ABOUT FIVE MINUTES TO THE FERRY. A DISCOUNT CARD CAN BE PURCHASED ON THE FERRY WITH PRELOADED 20 OR 40 PASSENGER TICKETS AND ALSO SEPERATELY WITH CAR TICKETS. YOU CAN GET THIS ON THE FIRST PASSING SO ITS WORTH KNOWING IN ADVANCE AS THE DISCOUNTS ARE WELL WORTH IT. OVERALL WE COULDN'T FIND FAULT AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND BOTH THE APARTMENT AND STAYING IN KINGSWEAR.

There are few reasons I did not give highest grading. The property is beautifully appointed and has stunning views however: There was no welcome pack at all not even a bottle of milk or a loaf of bread which is very unusual in self catering accommodation. There were no replacement toilet rolls - we had to buy these There were no dishwasher tablets at all When we arrived we expected to find a parking pass but I had to ring to find out why there wasn’t one as we had requested this and given our registration.. Apparently this done virtually with the owners of the car park. This is fine but we hadn’t been informed of the fact. Had we arrived any later the office would have been closed and we would have payed for parking over the weekend. These things are minor I know but I would have given full marks to every question had these things been covered. I would be interested in hearing your comments as this would determine whether or not I book with Original Cottages again
