  Although the log burner isn't listed, it needs taking off the photographs or a comment adding to say it can not be used.

  We were terribly cold in this main room with just one radiator and had to use our own blow heater we fortunatley had with us. We did contact the owner regarding how cold we were and did find it extrmely difficult that we had very little control of when we could have heating. This was a first for us. We came home a day early due to snow being forecast and didn't want to be cold. By 10pm at night the house was roasty toasty but at 3pm it was cold. The cottage is in a nice location and well equipped with everything you may need. The shower also does go cold enough which we also both struggled with as it was far too hot on its lowest setting. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay and had a nice break. Thank you

  We had a lovely relaxing break in Gunroom cottage over New Year 2024.

  If you are looking for peace and quiet, you really could not ask for more. The cottage is set in the estate of Castle Leod, with nearby riverside walks, and specimen trees to enjoy. Stargazers will appreciate the low levels of light pollution, and nature lovers will enjoy the local wildlife. The owners were really friendly and helpful; the property was very well equipped, very clean, and in great condition. I really liked the luxury of a dishwasher! We would not hesitate to recommend this property to others.

  We were in temperatures of -5 and heavy snow.

  Heating went off at 10am and back on at 4pm. Could not make any contact with the owners on the 2 numbers provided. Owners made no attempt to check on us. Had to purchase a fan heater to have heat during the day. Also needed to report that the oven door was broken when we arrived. Cottage was beautiful and even 8 inches of snow and having to leave the car down the hill as we could not get up the hill added to the enjoyment of the property.

  Beautiful house in an amazing setting.

  Watched the sunrise from the garden by the river. Welcome basket a lovely surprise. House so clean and had everything we needed for 6 adults, 2 children and 2 dogs. Clear instructions for everything in the house. Loved it. Will definitely be back. Would have loved an electric kettle. Dogs didn’t like the steaming noise of the whistling kettle but so minor. Wonderful stay and weather was good too. Thank you.

  Rose Cottage was a very comfortable base for our walking holiday.

  The location in Strathpeffer was convenient yet quiet. The house is well maintained, very clean and well-equipped. The furniture and fixtures are traditional and give the cottage a very cosy atmosphere. I would very happily make a return visit to Rose Cottage if in the area again. It offers very good value for the quality of the accommodation.
