  the whole cottage needs a thorough clean and furnishings very old and worn .When we arrived Mr Sinclair was just coming out of the cottage saying the TV wasn't working and he would be back. He did return a few minutes later and sat in the room trying to fix the TV. What a start to our holiday trying to unpack with a stranger sat there. The bathroom door wouldn't open properly, old rusty bin, light over mirror not working, heater in bathroom full of dust, old rusty tin of air fresher, shower screen on bath had black mould along the bottom. The kitchen had dirty cutlery trays and all utensils in them were very old. cupboard handle broken, dead beetle between the melamine plates, spider and web in a cup. No icebox in fridge so Mr Sinclair said to use the freezer where the dogs were kept in a separate outhouse which was disgracefully dirty. We were told not to shut the curtain in the hallway as the rail was broken. This meant when we left the bedroom to use the bathroom, we were on view up the lane. The single beds were very hard with child size quilts. furniture old, random old xmas decorations etc in draws which needed cleaning out. The carpets and flooring all needs changing as it is so old. there were dozens of flies every day due to the cottage facing the horse stables. We bought fly killer and were constantly spraying them. My partner honestly thought I was going to say " take me home" but because he had booked it for my Birthday I tried to make the best of it. We left 2 leg rest from our reclining sunchairs in the cottage shed by mistake, and after a call to them the day after our return, the daughter said she would get Mrs Sinclair to ring me. I have a friend in Ayr and though I could collect them when visiting my friend later in the year but I haven't had a call back and that was a week ago. I would have contacted you before now regarding how upsetting and disappointing our holiday accommodation was but I am just recovering from Covid and haven't been up to writing. On a positive note, we loved the areas of Rockcliffe and Kippford and would like to see other areas of Scotland. Baring in mind our bad experience at Tumbling Banks would the company give us some form of compensation for not only how upset we were but also for such poor accommodation as we would use Discover Scotland again but would suggest you think twice about using this accommodation to future clients in its present state.   Lovely large house, great location, close to shops, park etc. The house was very well equipped and stocked all our essentials ie toilet rolls, washing up liquid, even tin foil, cling film and sandwich bags. There were 10 of us split over a 2 week stay at Braidwood, 5 children & 5 adults. The house had plenty of large rooms to accommodate us all. The children really enjoyed the garden and the park out the back gate. We all walked round the park by the loch, the kids enjoyed playing on the playground. Made our way back with a walk up Queens Street. I enjoyed sitting in the garden at night & early morning, while everyone was in bed, having a cup of tea and a cigarette, it was so peaceful and the different birds certainly kept me entertained, the robin especially came to greet me every morning. 2022 was my 25th year of staying in Scotland for my annual summer holiday, my late mother's people were all Dalbeattie folk born & bred. I lost my mum 8 years ago, also losing my eldest brother 4 weeks after mum's passing. They are laid to rest in and around their favourite places, Sandyhills, Rockcliffe etc. They are all together at Sweetheart Abbey alongside my aunt (mum's sister) and her son (my cousin) My Summer holiday are sort of like a pilgrimage to visit my loved ones resting place and a promise I made too my mum on her last visit to Sweetheart Abbey, that every year I would visit with flowers. I also visit the Haugh of Urr were some of mum's family are laid to rest. I hope that one day I will get to stay at Braidwood again, I'm opting for a much quieter holiday next year without all the grand kids. As always booking through Discover Scotland my holiday is always 100% satisfactory.   We really enjoyed our stay in Fish House as it was the perfect property for a restful and relaxing holiday. Spotlessly clean, the house was beautifully furnished and extremely well equipped - the best I have ever stayed in. There were lots of thoughtful little touches, including much appreciated nightlights and even a picnic set! The generous welcome pack was a real treat and made us feel at home from the moment we stepped through the door. The terrace and garden were a real bonus and made it easy to relax and unwind. Kirkcudbright itself is a real gem and we would recommend the art gallery, which boasts a really excellent collection of paintings and ceramics. Rock life and Dhoon beaches are also well worth a visit. I would recommend this property without hesitation.

  Fantastic and extremely well equipped holiday accommodation. The owners have thought of everything. Even down to dog towels, picnic set, bucket and spades for the kids, board games etc! Beautiful, peaceful and secure garden for our dog. Lovely welcome hamper and treats for us and our dog. Space was actually bigger than expected. We had such a relaxing time and enjoyed watching the Owls at night. We don't usually go back to the same accommodation as we like to try something different. However, we will definitely be returning to The Fish House. Thank you for the most wonderful and relaxing stay.

  Perfect week in the perfect accommodation. Very light and clean. Everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Enclosed garden and plenty seating outside to enjoy the good weather. Situated in a quiet cul de sac and within walking distance of the town centre. The owners gave everything covered. Communication from start to finish was first class. Only thing which was not a biggy at all. The mugs and glasses are situated on a top shelf which made it very difficult to reach for us short people and who are less mobile. Would highly recommend this property for a holiday and would definitely go back.
