  We stayed at The Loft during storms Dudley and Eunice (Feb 22) and had to sit out the latter indoors! Luckily, it was a very comfortable space to while away the hours and watch the changing colours of the landscape and the very resilient pigs in the distant field. The accommodation is well-designed and comfortable, though a very tall person might need to pay attention to the sloping roof in places. Everything is clean and well-maintained. It is right next door to the owner's house which might not suit everyone, but we were glad of John's attentions during the storm and the great provisions in the hamper provided. The area is all about rolling hills and farms. We went on some beautiful walks, guided by some helpful maps and suggestions in the house. If you like red kites, hares, river walks and woodlands, this would be the place for you. Even in the February cold, we sat on the chairs at the top of our steps and watched the red kites hovering and dipping. Hot water bottles were provided and came in handy for the outdoor bird-watching!

  We stayed at the Loft hoping for a few days of rest and relaxation, and this was delivered beyond our expectations. Although the accommodation is adjacent to the owners house the Loft feels cosy and secluded. The expansive views across the fields is amazing and you can see all sorts of wildlife coming and going. The Loft is exceptionally well appointed with good quality furnishings, a very comfortable bed, good wifi, and the welcome hamper was stocked with some very tasty treats - especially the lemon drizzle cake. The owners are very friendly and work hard to ensure you have everything you need. There are some lovely walks in the area and the local pubs (we tried them all) are cosy and welcoming. Overall a lovely place for a relaxing getaway.

  What an amazing week spent in Cedar Tree, it most certainly worth the wait. Superb accommodation . The views out of this world of the countryside and all that goes with it...ie the tractors, horses, dogs, cat birds, squirrel, pair of grouses, kites, old planes, hot air balloon, and the sunset views. ..what isn't there to like!!! Plenty of places to visit Kingsclere, Sydmonton, Asley Warren, Whitchurch. Bourne Valley Inn perfect lunch (Beekeeper situation opposite). Watership Down Inn, most definately have to book table as you wont get in otherwise, and the car park gets very full and it isn't easy to park. Whitehill my favourite place :-).   We had the most amazing long weekend staying at John and Paula's little farm loft. The loft is very easy to reach from Central London by taking a train from Paddington to Goring. Since it was just a long weekend, we did not rent a car and John went above and beyond helping us with transportation from and to the station. All the details in the loft were perfect, and the bed is very comfortable. They left some amazing products and homemade goodies in the welcome basket. It was lambing season so we got to see the baby lambs, and John and Paula also have two sweet dogs. It is easy to get to walks and a pub nearby. I am sad that it was just a short visit this time, but we hope to visit again soon! - Michelle & Kevin

  Stayed at the Loft for a few days between Christmas and New Year. Accommodation was clean and comfortable and welcome hamper left by the owners was excellent, containing some additional seasonal items such as home made Christmas cake. There was also a small Christmas tree, complete with lights, and a book about Christmas Carols. The owners were helpful and checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed. They gave some good recommendations on local places to eat, and, as with previous Rural Retreats accommodations, we would not hesitate to return here in the future. Perfect place to stay if you like country walks and peaceful surroundings!
