What our customers say about their holidays

We just finished our week away at the property and the photos don't do the house justice as it is much larger than the pictures portray.
The owner was lovely and communication was brilliant, the hot tube was perfect, and we didn't want for anything in the house. The locals were super friendly and even though the supermarket was a short drive away the local shop, that is only a few mins walk away, was well stocked and helpful. There was plenty to do in the area and Holyhead is only a 25min drive away. Around the corner from the house is Llefrith Nant Dairy vending machine where you buy a bottle and then take that back each time for fresh milk and milkshakes (I loved the raspberry ripple milkshake), there is literally a 2min walk to the beach, with free parking for the disabled guests like me, where they make wood fired fresh pizza to order (you can see them making the dough) can't get any better eating it on the beach which is a nice place to walk at any time of the day of night. While there they had a RNLI day and had music and stalls along the dock where we got to walk around a working lifeboat, After popping into a local shop that had lots of unique handmade gifts, we found that all the profits go back to the community, confirming this is a lovely village with a strong community spirit. All of these things made the stay at the property above and beyond what we was expecting.

The house is wonderful.
It was perfect for what we needed. The beds were comfy, the linen was clean and good quality as were the sofas. Sadly the level of cleanliness was nothing short of shocking and disappointing. BATHROOOMS - The toilets has not been cleaned, the sinks were dirty - showers weren't too bad. The floors had not been hoovered and mopped behind the doors. Loads of hair present. The property evidently lacked a serious deep hoover/clean under beds, behind and under other items of furniture such as sofas and tables. There were loads cobwebs, reallly dusty curtain poles, the kitchen surfaces still had the previous guests toast crumbs on, the doors are dirty around the handles, the drawers and cupboards needed a good wipe inside, the baking trays were really bad - not nice having to cook food on at all. Honestly, the level the of cleanliness really tainted our stay and left all 8 of us feeling very disappointed. Sykes Cottages customer service replies would benefit from being less 'auto reply' and more personal to each customers complaints and issues raised.

We spent a week at the cottage at the beginning of June.
As a family of 8 and 2 dogs the property was a good size and we did not feel squashed in. The rooms were a good size and beds very comfortable although there was as a slight smells of damp in 2 of the bedrooms. Having 3 bathrooms was great, showers were nice and hot with good water pressure. There are 2 kitchens in the property which are handy and a nice size family dining table so we had plenty of board games in the rain! The garden was a really good size for our 2 dogs and great that it was enclosed. It was a shame the slide and swings werenât cleaned/ nettles werenât cut back as our children would have enjoyed going on them but they had fun anyway as there was plenty of room for games. We enjoyed the hot tub and it was nice and clean, as people have said it might beneficial to try and put something over the pool if not in use for safety. The nearest little beach is about 20 mins drive. South stack lighthouse about 30 mins. We also had a trip to Beaumaris which took us about 40 mins. Overall we had a really nice time and would probably return/ recommend.

My main gripe is that the property was advertised as sleeping 14 but only had beds for 13.
Consequently one of our party had to sleep on a sofa for the whole week. This is a case of false advertising. The premises wasn't clean, cobwebs all over the stairs. The blinds throughout the house were broken or difficult to use. The kitchen had only 6 teaspoons. No egg cups. The frying pan supplied doesn't work on the induction hob. A bedroom door on the first floor wouldn't close. No wardrobe facilities throughout the house. In the 3 bedded room there was two sets of drawers. The front of every drawer pulled away from the drawer when trying to the open them. there was a stained and dirty bed throw in one of the bedrooms. There was no recycling facility available. All our rubbish had to go in the large bin outside the house. The wooden gates to the property are rotten and difficult to open or close. With young children in our party this was a safety issue as the drive opened out on to a main road. A house of this size should have a washing machine and a dryer. Using the same towels for a whole week without being able to wash or dry them is unhygenic.

We had a fabulous 7 night stay for new year at this beautifully renovated house in Cemaes.
Joni and Maria were extremely quick at responding and are lovely, welcoming people. The house is very well equipped and perfect for a large family stay. There were 5 adults, 2 children and a dog in our group. The open plan layout lends itself perfectly to a sociable stay. Comfortable beds and lovely soft towels that smell amazing. Hot tub was a perfect end to a busy day walking and on the beach. Only a couple of things we could perhaps suggest to make it absolutely perfect? A clothes horse so items don't have to be put on the radiators, some coat hooks downstairs and on the back of bedroom doors, some more clothes hangers. Would highly recommend checking out the Llefrith Nant Dairy vending machines which are a short walk away and the Sea Shanty Cafe at Trearddur for delicious food and desserts. Also a lovely beach there. Cemaes was quiet at the time we visited but we all enjoyed the lovely beach there and the local shop is well stocked. It is also a good base to explore Anglesey. The sunset at Rhosneigr was amazing and Beaumaris and isn't far either.
