  Our booked six night stay consisted of one night before we gave the keys back and found somewhere else to stay.

  In 25 years of renting holiday cottages, this was by far the worst. Spartan, poorly equipped, no room whatsoever, no storage space and what we believed to be us having the run of a large garden (as the photos depicted) for our two spaniels, we had a 12 x 12ft patch of grass. The tv is at a 45 degree angle to the settee, so you had to crane your neck to watch it. No net curtains so no privacy. A kitchen without a cooker, draining board or washing machine, the latter essential for a cottage that's supposedly dog friendly. As for the front door..... We were told NOT to turn the car around using the property opposite's drive which necessitated reversing down the narrow lane to get out, no mention of this when we booked. Presumably the cottage owners and the neighbour don't get on? The directions to the place weren't even accurate. If this place WAS converted from a barn, I can only assume that the barn was more comfortable. When we departed on the Sunday morning, the owners weren't in, so I texted them to say we'd left the place and to let them know where we'd left the key. Several hours later they replied to say, "oh dear, thanks for letting us know, we hope you find something more suited to your needs". No apology, no " what could we have done to make your stay better?", essentially, " thanks for your £400, 'bye". I just can't believe the glowing reviews for this place, people must have very low expectations. We will NEVER book through you again, a complete and utter disappointment.   Last minute booking for 2 of us with our dog over Christmas.

  What a hidden gem this is. A cozy, warm cottage that had everything we needed nestled in a fantastic village. We arrived to find a welcoming home complete with Christmas tree, wine and mince pies. A very nice touch. We ventured to the local "Robin Hood" on the 1st night and were greeted with a warm welcome from both the owners/staff and also all of the locals. We had great food too. On Christmas Eve we chilled and relaxed in the cottage and took a dog walk around the beautiful village before returning to the pub again where our well behaved dog was made most welcome, once again enjoying great food and a welcoming atmosphere from a great community of people. We enjoyed another 2 nights in Middleton and much of the same with a trip into Beverly in-between. All in all, we had a fantastic break away and I look forward to returning again in the not too distant future. The owners have made a cracking job of their rental and I would highly recommend for anyone looking to kick back, relax but still have home comforts. We couldn't find fault. Thank you for our stay - greatly appreciated.

  We had a lovely stay at The White House - the property is very well equipped, with everything you’ll need for a comfortable few days away.

  It was lovely and warm, the kitchen had all the essentials, and the bed and bathroom were all great. The bottle of wine and biscuits were a lovely touch too! We took our spaniel, who had the run of a private yard - and enjoyed the complimentary dog treats very much! The hot tub was absolutely superb, in its own enclosed, secure area with easy access from the property - just a short hop across the private yard. It was very clean, warm and a perfect way to relax throughout the day. We made use of it at least twice a day and could have spent longer! There are a few walks straight out of the door which are handy for other dog owners. The village is very quiet and relaxed. We had a great time and can’t wait to plan another trip in future!

  Couldn't recommend this place enough, after having to cancel plans for my partners 30th in June we decided to book this for belated celebrations and I'm so happy we did.

  The cottage was in a lovely little village with a pub within walking distance. We spent most of the days exploring the area and then the evenings were spent in the hot tub relaxing. My partner also proposed to me during our stay which made it extra special. We also visited the pub a few times for a drink and food which was delicious and really reasonably priced. The owner of the cottage was lovely, we called the day before to confirm when we would be arriving and were greeted with a bottle of wine and shortbread which was a really lovely touch. If you want a break where you can just switch off and explore the beautiful Yorkshire countryside this is the perfect place.. we would definitely return!

  Little Orchard Barn was a vey lucky find and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

  It is one of the two best cottages we have stayed in. We received a very warm welcome along with some tasty treats. The cottage is comfortable, very well equipped and thoughtful touches make it feel very homely. Please don’t be put off by previous negative comments regarding narrow lane to access the property. It is a very short distance which we managed very well in our Honda CRV, which is not a small car and with due care we were able to drive in, turn round and drive out again with confidence. There is a lot to do in the surrounding area and the shops are close by. Do come and stay at Little Orchard Barn you won’t be disappointed. Many thanks to the owners
