  Charm Cottage is such an apt name for this wonderful and quirky cottage.

  As you step through the front door you enter a calm and tranquil sanctuary. A wonderful social setting for you and your loved ones. You walk over the threshold into a large room that is superbly laid out with 3 double sofas and a family dining table. The kitchen is down 2 steps and is kitted out to suit everyones needs. There is a ground floor full bath plus shower, toilet etc, very spacious bathroom. Paito doors lead from the kitchen into a large courtyard garden, great for outdoor dining and most importantly sorting through your fossil finds. Up the stair case leads you to 2 double bedrooms one with ensued (toilet and sink) plus a separate shower room (with toilet). The mattresses on all of the beds were so comfortable, we all went straight off to sleep as soon as our heads hit the super comfortable pillows. Then there was another flight of stairs up to the loft bedroom that my grandson loved, with a fantastic view out of the large window. A few minutes walk from Charm Cottage (2 or 3 minutes) is the Royal Oak Inn where you can have the most sumptuous meals, far superior and better quality food than any London establishment, You can meander down to the Beach via Lower Sea Lane, about a 10 minute walk from Charm Cottage, to either fossil hunt or just relax and watch the world go by. We did not want to leave Charm cottage. We will definitely be booking again in the Autumn for another stay at this Charming cottage.

  “Wow what a beautiful flat. Great location for my 88 yr old dad 3 min walk to the pub. Loved the pool table which helped when we had a power cut. called Sam the housekeeper and she got straight onto it. The owner then called to tell me it was a problem in the area but told them i had a vulnerable person so will be fixed within the hour. Which actually only took 30 mins. Such a lovely caring Owner and Housekeeper. Parked the car in the carpark for the week and walked down some steps into the flat. All stone floor and no steps my dad had the onsuite room, he loved the views and was safe to stay whilst my hubby and I went to get papers and shopping which is only 6 mins walk away. Not suitable for wheelchair users unless you can manage your stairs. But a must if you can. Lovely friendly town, would return again.<br /> Beds all comfy and even thought of your privacy as on side windows a one way film was applied, so you can see out but you cannot see in from outside. Brilliant. ”

  Lovely property, beautifully renovated and well situated on the main route through Charmouth.

  Welcome hamper appreciated. Reasons for lower ratings: when we arrived the property smelt unusual and we finally figured out this was due to the dishwasher having old congealed food at the bottom of it and in the filter which we then had to get out by hand. Very unpleasant and not something you expect for the price paid. We also had to wash everything we used as it just looked grimey. Also the listing states on road parking is available however, I think it should be made clear that The Street and most roads surrounding are double yellow lined, with the occasion parking bays outlined. These aren't easy to come by at all, and sometimes mean you have to park considerably far away, not ideal for anyone with small children/elderly/disabled. Both above points are not reflective of the cottage itself, which is beautiful, but definitely things to consider if I were to rebook (which I would consider being a regular Charmouth visitor)

  “You really can&#39;t fault the location. Amazing panoramic views of the sea and it is just a few steps down to the beach. The proximity to the town centre and convenient parking is a massive bonus. Shops, restaurants and other facilities are just a couple of minutes walk away. The accomodation is simple yet has everything you need. Bedrooms are compact, but big enough. The main appeal however is the large lounge/dining area which is where you&#39;ll want to spend most of your time. The games table (pool, air hockey, table tennis) was appreciated by our children! The kitchen is small but we&#39;ll equipped. Our only issue was the cleanliness. The bath and shower rooms would&#39;ve benefitted from a good scrub. Something that&#39;s easy to solve and I&#39;m sure that this will be addressed in future. That aside, we had a lovely time and I would recommend it to others. The owner was also very helpful and responsive to my questions”

  A beautiful gem of a property right in the heart of Whitby with gorgeous views on all levels overlooking the harbour and Abbey. Close proximity to the town and amenities, but still peaceful and calm. Plenty of homely additions to settle in whilst staying, as well as secure outdoor space that also makes the most of the beautiful view. Clear instructions and guides on how to get round and make the most of Whitby and the surrounding area, and overall very clean and welcoming. Would definitely recommend and book again if coming back to the area. However, it's best to be clear that some with accessibility issues may struggle with some aspects of this property/location. The parking may be tricky, there is a long stay car park just a few short minutes walk up a steep hill/stairs that costs just under £10 for 24 hours. The house is also over three levels with very steep stairs.
