  Hide and Sleep is a welcoming, home from home property, perfect for large families.

  There were 9 of us in 3 groups. It is well equipped, although as our stay was over Christmas we had taken extra serving bowls and kitchen equipment, not all of it was needed. The wet room in the annexe is a fabulous addition, but we didn't use it in Winter because the room was chilly, and the shower did not stay hot for long. Laminate flooring through out the downstairs made it easy to move furniture about for the house to function as we needed it to, and easy to keep clean. The large bedrooms were clean and comfortable. For our party twin beds in another room would have been better as the children would have had to share a bed. We provided our own air bed which there was plenty of room for. Providing hanging rails was good. No bulky furniture. There were enough decorations in the house to make it feel festive. A walk to the beach for the adults and our dog was not too far. The children enjoyed their time at the beach and the park, which were a short drive away

  An absolute gem. Perfect peaceful location, spotlessly clean and everything you could need for a great getaway. We were met by Martin who was very welcoming and we were very impressed by the “welcome pack” of essentials which we weren’t expecting.The lodge is in a stunning location with every amenity you will need for either a short or long stay, lots of local information available and recommendations (we ate at the Ship which was excellent and only a 5 min walk away). Located at the edge of the marshes it is an ideal spot for walking and taking in the wildlife (we were lucky to see seals, deer, Kingfisher and woodpeckers) and then back to the lodge to relax and soak up the surroundings through the balcony window which overlooks the fields and marshland. We enjoyed some fossil hunting on the Naze beach and explored Frinton which is very well kept and has some amazing beaches. A great place to do lots or do nothing.

  What a lovely hidden gem. I had a very enjoyable stay at the Lodge, visiting for a friends 60th. The owners were friendly and helpful. Its set in a tranquil location with lovely views but within easy access to shops and the beach a short drive away. Spacious, spotlessly clean, decorated to a high standard and well equipped. The bathroom was a good size with fluffy towels. There is an enclosed secluded garden with table and chairs and barbecue. Walks from the front door. The owners left a generous welcome hamper which was much appreciated. They have only recently started to rent out the property and I’m very pleased that they have as it will be my go to when visiting friends in Walton. I would happily recommend the Lodge. Thank you Beverley and Martin for making me feel so welcome and look forward to staying again.

  We book quite a few UK holidays with our 2 small dogs, and, generally, come away feeling a little flat. Not this time! From the moment we opened the door we knew we had found a gem. The property was spotlessly clean. Downstairs was perfect for a quiet breakfast, either inside or outside. The kitchen is equipped with quite possibly anything you would need to cook and eat the amazing welcome pack (fresh bread, bacon, eggs, butter, marmalade and biscuits) There was tea and coffee in the cupboard. Upstairs is truly home from home. Lovely, spotlessly clean bathroom, comfy bed, and a cosy lounge overlooking the amazing countryside. The hosts are friendly and accommodating and are on hand should you need them. Overall, an amazing relaxing, quiet retreat that we shall certainly use again.

  The property is lovely, one of the best we have stayed in. The owners thought of everything and it is decorated and furnished to a high standard, very clean too. The views are amazing if the backwaters. We could see Harwich in the distance. We didn’t know the area which is so pretty, lots of lovely walks and the beaches are great. A wonderful place to stay, I would really recommend.
