What our customers say about their holidays
Michael - Verified booking
Attended between 8th and 15th September 23.
3 adults and one cavapoo. Before our holiday we was contacted by the joint owner Anne, who wanted to know if we wanted the beds made up separately or to zip them together to make big doubles. Plus wanted confirmation of our time of arrival and wished us a safe journey to Pound Farm. Arrival: The woodpecker lodge is very new ( built early 2023) and modern on the inside with everything you could want for a perfect stay. You can park a number of cars behind your wooden gates. In the kitchen it has everything you could want to make a sandwich to a roast dinner. Tall fridge freezer and dish washer. Both bedrooms are bright clean and good size. The two bathrooms are very clean and modern, with excellent hot water and pressure. One bathroom with walk in shower and the other with bath with over shower. Dinning room table for up to 6 people. Living area had a comfortable seating area which looks out onto the patio and the rolling fields. Large smart tv. Utility room with washing machine and sink and for putting your out door boots and coats. Underfloor heating which we didnât need due to great weather we had. Large patio area with table and chairs and wicker furniture at one end, plus bbq. Views across the fields and the owners sheep. Wi-Fi very good. Mobile was a bit hit and miss which was nice not to keep getting phone calls :) Welcome pack of milk, tea bags, coffee, eggs, cake and bottle of wine, which was a very nice touch. Local pub Butterleigh inn is just a 5 minute drive or just a 10 to 15 minute walk. We had our Sunday roast there and visited for a evening drink which was very nice. Book in advance for Sunday roast. Overall: This is a fantastic clean modern lodge with super friendly and helpful owners Anne and Rob. Set in a peaceful location with great views of the countryside. I would highly recommend to anyone, and we are already looking to possibly go back in 2024 with my parents. Top tip: we ordered our food supplies on line with Tesco,s who delivered the next day to our lodge.

Wow what an absolute Gem of a place we came as a group of 7 over 3 generations and this suited everyone of us!
We hadnât travelled far (30 minutes) due to grandparents not being able to drive far but it definitely felt like a million miles away. Lots of beautiful places to visit on Dartmoor Widcombe in the moor, Hay Tor, Buckfast Abby just a few to name! The lodge was absolutely stunning and plenty of space the kitchen and open plan living/dining area was great everyone enjoyed cooking together and we even did some baking the kitchen is well equipped with everything you possibly needed our kids enjoyed the snug lounge as well they was plenty of cards board games to choose from. the log burner was ample amount of heating (we turned the radiators down) Our 2 dogs loved the outside garden all fenced in and plenty of room for them to have a mooch around. The hot tub was superb and the fairy lights around the fence was beautiful we sat out quite late a few nights just star gazing and listening to the owl. Jo and Max made us all feel very welcome right from the start with a wonderful hamper and messaged me after the first night to see how we were and if anything was needed and very kindly kept our logs stocked up! We all would definitely recommend this wonderful place to stay we all fell in love with it and it ticked every box plus more!!!! We are actually looking at dates for next year Thanks again Jo & Max in your hospitality from all of us!

The Poop Deck is an excellent place to stay it is on the outskirts of Dartmouth with a brilliant park and ride service just 3/4 of a mile up the road. Norton Park is beautifully quiet and peaceful with fabulous views and outstanding sunsets. The chalet itself is wonderfully appointed, modern fresh and clean. Supplies of coffee tea milk sugar and yummy biscuits are very welcome on arrival after a long journey like ours. The beds are comfortable and quiet conducive to a good nights sleep. There is a very good Wi-Fi connection, the ability to watch streaming services on the tv as well as a small supply of DVD’s and a couple of games if the weather turns poor or for the quiet nights in. The kitchen is very well equipped and the dishwasher was a joy giving us all a welcome break from the washing up. I think one of the very best things in this property is the folder we found on arrival on the coffee table, it is an absolute gold mine of information not just about the property itself but about local attractions and the best ways to access them, local travel links and even which restaurants are good in Dartmouth. I would totally recommend this property for a peaceful getaway from it all holiday, we enjoyed it immensely.

This is a fantastic property. It is very clean, light and airy. Everything you could possibly need is in there. The two ladies who own the property are lovely and very thoughtful and considerate. The location is very good - I took my car to the Park and Ride every day and took the bus to The Pontoon in Dartmouth. From there I was able to catch a ferry over to Kingswear, walk to the castle, visit Agatha Christie's 'holiday home', go on The Steam Railway and walk the South West Coastal Path - all excellent. I am sorry but this is supposed to be pet friendly but apart from a small garden the only other walk is the drive.
To take you dog for a walk you have to drive unless you like to walk single lane roads. The hot tub is under power probably not maintained properly. the tv in the front room is on its last legs. the property itself is not clean there are cobwebs everywhere they have been in place for a long time as they are covered in dust. the sofa if you lift the cushions well that has not been cleaned for months. They do not even move them to clean under them, the bathroom floor is in poor condition very near ready to replace, the cabinet in the bathroom has not been cleaned for a long time. For what is supposed to be luxury accommodation has slowly been left to deteriorate. I would not go back or recommend it to anyone. If this sounds unfair then you are looking at what it should be as we saw it first a lovely property but the longer you are there the more you see that has not been maintained or cleaned.
