What our customers say about their holidays

Alarm bells should have been ringing due to the lack of reviews about this property.
It just wasn't very clean. The lamp shades were dusty. There were food stains on the crockery. There was a privacy issue as we could look directly into the upstairs windows of the houses opposite and they into ours. Downstairs, passers-by could look in as they walked along the pavement, hence the profusion of net curtains, which made the property decidedly claustrophobic. The ceilings are so high that all cosiness was lost upstairs. The colour scheme of blues and wood grain makes the house seem cold. From the kitchen area you have to cross the entrance hall to reach the dining room, which was a rather narrow, dark room. The games hamper was a bit of a mess with pieces of games spilling out of the boxes. It needed a good sort out. The pub nearby was noisy and we heard late night drunken swearing and arguments. I knew when booking that the property had no outside space, but the close proximity to the neighbours windows and their outside space was uncomfortable; the house was an island. Every morning we didn't enjoy the revving of the neighbour's motorbike. We could never park in the street near the property. We had to park in a public car park in the next street. The owner did give us a free pass for this but nevertheless it was an inconvenient walk. The area of Sandown was really run down. The abandoned and derelict hotels on the nearby seafront were so depressing and the pier was horrible. I have to say it was the worst town and cottage I've ever stayed at. It just doesn't work as a holiday cottage, in my opinion.

I took my 3 young children on a short break during the half term week in October.
We all had a wonderful time at The Nab House! It was beautiful. It had a great layout for families as you could see the all the living areas downstairs. I could easily keep an eye on the children while I cooked etc. The bedrooms were also fantastic! There was great flexibility with the rooms and an extra sofa bed in a room off the twin so all my children could sleep together if they wanted to. It was a few minutes walk for the beach. The beach was brilliant and we spent a long time exploring and looking at the RNLI station. It was Halloween while we were there so we went trick or treating and I found the community very friendly. I felt this property was very good value for money as it was well situated and well equipped with plenty of parking. We went to sandown a few times and black gang chine. All within easy reach of the property. I would return to this property without a doubt. It was one of the best properties weâve stayed in. I totally recommend The Nab House. Thank you for such a pleasant stay. Hopefully we will see you again soon. :)

Linda Cottage provides everything to support a lovely holiday in this quiet village on the island.
From the moment we walked down the path surrounded by the spring blooming Clematis and into the cozy warm cottage our stay was made perfect. I am a regular customer of Sykes Cottages renting their holiday letâs 3 or 4 times a year and can definitely recommend the cottage. It has everything you would expect with the added benefit of a double lower bunk bed that can prove really useful for families of 5. In addition there is a very well stocked reasonably priced convenience store open until 9pm in the evening that is located less than 1 minute walk and a friendly cozy pub just 10 minutes walk away⦠what more could you ask for. The Village Inn at Bembridge is a must, make sure of an early visit during your holiday as you will definitely want to return there! The friendly owners of Linda Cottage made us welcome from the very start and weâre kind enough to post a flask I had foolishly left behind⦠nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely consider booking this cottage in the lovely village of St Helens when we next visit the IoWâ¦.

I had a wonderful break at Linda Cottage.
It is a very comfortable property with everything you could need in it. I had some contact with the owner via text and she was ever so helpful without being intrusive. The village of St Helenâs is quiet but that was exactly what I wanted. Even so, it had a well stocked shop with post office, a nice pub, a nice couple of restaurants and an amazing second hand/rare bookshop. And it is within walking distance of the sea which I loved! I cannot recommend it highly enough especially to people travelling on their own, in a couple or a small group/family. I remember reading others say that the staircase is quite narrow and that I would agree with - I would imagine some people would struggle with it, especially getting luggage up to the bedrooms. I also think that a family of 4 might find the lounge a bit small. And anyone sleeping in the main bedroom might get disturbed by the shop being stocked up first thing in the morning. But these are very minor points, none of which took anything away from a lovely holiday.

We all loved the eco lodge with hot tub.
The setting is peaceful and beautifully maintained. There is public transport to Ryde and to Shanklin just outside the mermaid distillery which is really handy. The pub is also friendly and serves a limited menu but the food is good. The lodge itself is well stocked with everything that is needed for a comfortable stay. All the appliances in the kitchen worked. Bathroom clean and a lovely shower. Beds were comfortable and fans provided in all rooms as there was no windows to open and they did get a little hot during the night. There were a couple of issues, lamp not working and hooks no longer secure to the wall, that had not been reported by previous guests but Mel was easily contactable and offered to send maintenance around, however we chose to leave the issues to be resolved once we left. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and would highly recommend the eco lodges as a perfect base to stay for exploring the Isle of Wight.
