What our customers say about their holidays

If you wish to enjoy the best views in Dartmouth, Manor Studio must have some of the best, if not the best.
I spent hours on the balcony, fabulous. The flat was spotlessly clean on my arrival, excellent !. The negatives.... whether you're sat watching TV or on the balcony enjoying the views, you will be sat on garden furniture, (even 4 spare garden chairs stored in the lounge) very uncomfortable garden furniture at that. From the flat I could see people lounging in their gardens on better furniture than the flat has. During the summer it is bad enough but I imagine if spending long winter evenings at the property, watching TV would become very unpleasant. Wicker furniture, no where to put your arms, dreadful. There are a few other bits and bobs that need addressing, but on the whole a super flat. Alas, having stayed here twice the steps have got the better of me, at almost 70, a sole occupant negotiating the steps with luggage has beaten me, I can't endure that experience again. (Due to the single track road that accesses the flat and to prevent obstruction to a minimum, it is necessary to get all your luggage to the top of the steps, leaving it unaccompanied while collecting your car from the car park on the other side of town. I suggest that you use one of the neighbours 'bays' to turn the car around and leave the property by the same direction by which you approached ) I have another flat booked with Sykes in September but one on street level. If it were not for the steps I would have chosen the Manor Studio without doubt. The double bed is comfortable and the flat well equipped, as mentioned before a couple of further small points that need addressing but are un note worthy, simply frustrating.

We absolutely loved staying here!
It was wonderful to be so central to Dartmouth and yet feel quite private amongst the rooftops. And of course the views were amazing. Everything in the property was well thought out and the kitchen was equipped appropriately and everything worked well. It is bijou, but perfectly furnished. Though there are steps up to the property, we did not find them troublesome and enjoyed the fact that the property was tucked away. The parking permit was a godsend allowing us to park in the central car park. Parking in Dartmouth is difficult at best and the roads are quite tiny. In peak months you can park for two hours directly outside the property (at the bottom of the steps) which was helpful when dropping off luggage and on the morning of departure. It was a beautifully hot week and the bedrooms were cool with the windows open and upstairs too which created a lovely breeze. I did see another comment about the visibility through the small window in the front door which I initially didnât think much about, but can now agree that a small curtain there would be ideal. If, as we did, you sleep with the crew bedroom door open to allow the room to stay cool on a hot night, you are in fact potentially on view to those coming down the steps outside. We managed to rig up a towel to create privacy, but a small curtain would be an easy solution. This did not detract from our overall delight in staying here and would fully recommend the property and we definitely hope to return.

The flat was absolutely delightful.
An upside-down place with the most gorgeous views of Dartmouth, both out to the castle and the sea and up the river. The views at sunrise and sunset were particularly lovely - I was very lucky with the weather. (Had I not been, the flat would have still been cosy with a wood-burning stove.) The cooking facilities were excellent, the combined oven/microwave was very handy, although being just a short walk away from the town-centre I ate out most lunchtimes at the river-front restaurants or took a picnic down to Bayards quay. I also had a divine brunch one day at the aptly named; Al Fresco's. Handy shopping at Co-op and M&S was also very nearby. The steps up to Spyglass (which the ad for the property mentioned) were a little challenging for some-one like myself with mobility difficulties, but taken slowly were perfectly do-able. I particularly enjoyed the serene Captain's bed-room, all white wood paneling and soft pillows and the big open shower. My only, tiny, criticism was that a small curtain across the porthole window in the front door might be an idea as someone passing up the steps (a public footpath) could see in as one went from bathroom to bedroom. All in all a wonderful place for a spring getaway (a birthday present to myself)!

This is a very sweet little flat, with fabulous views over the Dart estuary and really handy for the very pretty old town and the ferry.
Beds were really comfy and shower/hot water worked well plus new cooker and fridge. We had a lovely week with lots to explore including 2 fabulous NT properties at Greenway and Coleton Fishacre - and great walks along the coast path, plus plenty of quiet little coves to swim or canoe from. Plus only a short stroll down to the Dartmouth Arms with a great and reasonably priced menu. The only downside from our perspective was the steps to the property which were narrow, steep and uneven, and we couldn't work the outside light out - so had a few hairy descents. So fine for the able-bodied, but I wouldn't recommend for anyone with mobility issues. Plus we never manged to park outside (but that is fairly typical for Dartmouth) - so the weekly pass for the Mayors car park was a godsend. Having said all that I would stay there again, as it was such a good location and you could sit on the outside terrace and watch the world go by for hours.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 42 Dart Marina and are hoping to return again.
The property was lovely and most comfortable. We have no complaints whatsoever. The only things I would mention are that the door was little difficult to unlock. Once we had mastered the technique by pulling the door towards you then that was fine. The other thing being that the doorbell did not work. It just meant that when my husband went out on a few errands without the key he could not alert me to let him in and had ring my mobile phone. These are not complaints just a couple of things which may need a little attention. I certainly left things in very good order before we left, i.e, disinfecting the rubbish bins, wiping out the fridge and washing all of the oven trays. Not that we had used them because we did eat out rather consistently. It was lovely because of the situation of No.42 we did still have a small view of the river. Most enjoyable and thank you again because we would happily return.
