  What can we say? Whilst this was not our first visit to Northumberland it was our first stay at Coquet Cottage but we hope it won’t be our last. Everything was just right from the fluffy towels and bathrobes to the choice of instant, ground or Nespresso coffee! Lorraine’s lemon drizzle cake was lovely and enjoyed after a walk up to Linhope Spout which tested the leg muscles but was certainly worth it. We followed that with a look round Edlingham Castle and church in the glorious evening light. We came at the right to of year to see lots of lambs which added to the pleasure of our long weekend as well as a return to visit Rothbury and the wonderful Cragside. We enjoyed a very good meal at the Anglers Arms – its lovely to have somewhere so close. The only trouble with a lot of walking and a very comfy bed is it is far too easy to sleep in! Thank you for a wonderful place.

  We have had a lovely break at this lovely, very well appointed cottage. Excellent welcome basket much appreciated and the fresh flowers were also a nice touch. The Anglers Arms was very handy, friendly staff and good pub food. We come to Northumberland regularly and usually stay on the coast so it was a change to stay inland. Our highlights –Wallington – beautiful walled garden and river walks. Hexham Races – good fun if you back a winner or two! Brinkburn Priory – worth a visit. Very atmospheric. Howick Hall Gardens – our favourite gardens and the best tea room. Our favourite this trip was a trek with the Alpacas at Berhope Farm near Jedburgh. Something completely different and a very calming experience to spend an afternoon walking at alpaca pace.

  We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Coquet Cottage, what a lovely welcome after a long journey. It has been sympathetically and tastefully renovated to make a very cosy and comfortable base. The location is excellent for cycling, walking and of course visiting the many Castles. The Farne Islands are not to be missed, although our visit in October meant that we had obviously missed the majority of bird life. We were so lucky to visit them on a beautiful autumn day, with blue skies and sunshine!! We thoroughly enjoyed the coastal walk from Craster to Low Newton. We have never stayed anywhere which provides such comprehensive and excellent advice on the area. Well done Lorraine and Paul, we hope to return again soon to your beautiful cottage.

  We have enjoyed our time spent in this beautiful cosy cottage. There is everything that you could want, a real home from home, and we were lucky enough to enjoy sitting outside in the sunshine, especially towards the end of our time here. Our hosts Lorraine and Paul were on hand to greet us on arrival and were charming. The welcome pack was excellent, especially the lemon drizzle cake! The recommendations for places to visit and to eat were most welcome, our favourite being The Jolly Fisherman at Craster! My husband also loved the Craster kippers. This was our first visit to Northumbria and hopefully will return one day to experience again the wonderful countryside and friendly people.

  Really comfortable stay, everything we needed was provided. Lovely décor, everything is well thought out. Loved the birds and sparrows squabbling over the bird feeder. Very quiet and peaceful, even though close to the A697. Thanks to Google Maps we often went on the slow roads with fantastic scenery. If you like bird watching the Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre was great, fab café, and you can walk along the beach too. We visited Chesters Roman Fort and Museum and Morpeth for shopping – we hadn’t brought enough warm clothes so had to buy thermals in M&S. Recommend café at the bus station and Rutherfords department store. Corbridge is worth a visit and finally Cragside House.
