What our customers say about their holidays
Mrs Brew - Verified booking
The flat is clean, spacious and perfectly located to explore the coastline of North Devon. There are a couple of local pubs down the road in Mortehoe, a chip shop and a B&B that do a brilliant takeaway service in the evenings. 10-15 minutes walk down the hill takes you to the lovely rocky beaches of Grunta and Combesgate where we loved to explore the rockpools. 10 Minutes further and you'll find yourself at the long golden expanse of Woolacombe Beach. We enjoyed body boarding here and exploring the seaside town. We also explored Croyde Beach which has a fabulous slip and slide inflatable at the car park, Saunton Sands and Westward Ho. All of these beaches were lovely and had great waves for surfing and body boarding. We also travelled to Ilfracombe where we went through the Victorian Tunnels to Tunnel beach which has a fabulous natural paddling pool. If you walk up the hill from the flat you find yourself at the Bill Point lighthouse and can then walk along the coast to Bennett's Mouth or Morte Point. We enjoyed watching the sun set on a walk to the lighthouse. There's so much to do in North Devon that we will definitely be back.

Loved the sea view and Ilfracombe was a good central location to explore bays & beaches in the area. The property was was comfortable and clean & parking out the front not too much trouble. Fees only started at 10am in the morning & finished by 6pm at night. We usually lucked a carpark there at night without having to trek up the hill. The seagull chorus reminded us we were at the seaside. Handy convenience store just a short walk down the high street. Nice coffee at Annie & the Flint. Massive Tesco at top of the hill if needed. Favourite cafes...Beachcomber in Woolacombe with a stunning view and Blue Groove in Croyde. Did a great day trip to Hartland Abbey where Prince William had his stag. Awesome gardens, house tour and incredible coast. Also a day trip to Lynton & Lynmouth where we took the funicular railway. Fab time all round!

This apartment is in a superb location and has amazing views.
If it had been managed/maintained correctly it would be exceptional. I have already had extensive exchanges with the managing agent, Sandpiper, which is hoping to resolve the issues we encountered. These included: 1. Legal compliance issues. No gas safety certificate displayed (it does exist, they were able to supply it on request), divan bed bases without fire labels (probably because the bases appear to pre-date the introduction of the regulations in 1988!). 2. Several maintenance issues. Missing fridge shelf, broken clocks, insecure worktop in bathroom. 3. Lots of cleaning issues including stained carpets, dirty drawers, dirty window interiors. To their credit, as soon as we notified them Sandpiper offered to come out and attend to things, but as we had already cleaned ourselves we decided not to take them up on their offer.

It started badly.
I found broken glass in the drainer with my finger. My wife could not use the hot tap in the front on-suite because it was so stiff. You could not leave the windows open in the #2 bedroom because the beds were directly under them. The bed light in #2 bedroom had no power to it and there was no clock. The kitchen was better but there was only one egg cup and no egg timer. The kitchen drawer did not shut properly, neither did the fridge door. The whole flat had an air of being run down, there are marks all over the walls. There are no drying facilities and to cap it all the TV was absolutly out of the Ark. Personally I regret staying there and how it can ever be described as "Dog Friendly" is beyond us.

A very different feel to our normal 'cottage' holiday - but very much enjoyed the comfort and feel of the lovely apartment Great location for circular walks to Lee (the Grampus Inn does lovely food and to Croyde via Baggy Point - both very much recommended. Shame no dogs in Croyde beach until October, but loved the Sandy Bay Beach, near Lee via the Smugglers Path. More locally walked the Mortehoe paths several times - great scenery and spectacular views - and the cross country walks to Woolacombe too with good coffee at Beachcombers Cafe with views down over Woolacombe beach. Shall be recommending Rockham and Mortehoe to friends back in Bristol and beyond.
