What our customers say about their holidays
Keith - Verified booking
We were looking forward to having a break away from it all in complete privacy having seen the photographs and checking on the fencing situation as we have a dog who is over- friendly.
When we arrived Keith asked a lady by the farm type buildings and machinery where we might find Poppy. She did not engage in any welcoming conversation just told us it was the second one along. The huts are attractive but the view from the back window was awful and a tractor with some sort of scraper was going backwards and forwards scraping rainwater from the ground for quite some time. The photographs are also very misleading, we realised they must have been taken with a fish-eye lense as the hut and the garden area were very much smaller and the other huts much closer than we thought. There was a âGuests informationâ booklet but this did not give any information about how to use the shower, the heating, the hob or the tv. A Guest book was provided for guests to write their feedback but I found it a little suspicious, considering the above that it was a loose leaf book, with only glowing reviews. Although it was thoughtful to provide a small bottle of milk and coffee, tea and sugar, it would be a good idea to provide condiments and cooking/olive oil too. We enjoyed our break due to the places we visited and the views of the hills and sheep but the experience could have been so much better with some friendliness and thoughtfulness from the hosts.

This was a beautiful accommodation in an equally lovely location.
The spec was all to a very high standard, the kitchen equipment was superb - nothing second class or shoddy about items supplied. The welcome pack was most appreciated. The whole accommodation was beautiful and to a very high standard, bed was really comfortable. We chose this accommodation for the fact it had an undercover hot tub area as very few holiday lets provide this (most definitely an asset with the UK weather) and it lived up to all our expectations and more, the outside fridge was also an asset and an absolute deal breaker, it was so helpful in having extra space to store our food/drinks etc. Waking up to the cows, sheep and birds was so lovely and relaxing. The only suggestion I would make is that it would have been nice to have some ice made up as ice tray was empty (a very small thing) and some flash/power cleaner to help me clean at the end of stay) apart from that all fabulous - could not recommend highly enough. We met the owner on our last day when leaving so certainly not an intrusive lady lady :) Excellent all round. In relation to trips, Ludlow castle great and markets superb.

My family and I enjoyed a charming, private lodge nestled in lush vegetation for a week.
The staff were friendly and always ready to assist, and the host maintained excellent communication throughout our stay. Unfortunately, we faced significant setbacks during our stay. We chose the property for its Wi-Fi, but it was completely non-functional, impeding our remote work. The lack of signal on our mobile phones compounded the issue. Despite connectivity challenges, we relished the natural surroundings for outdoor activities. The TV didn't work either, limiting our entertainment options. We missed access to TV channels and streaming services like Netflix, which was a letdown, especially for our 16-year-old daughter. One improvement we would suggest is providing essential kitchen items such as salt, pepper, and cooking oil at the property. It would have been convenient to have these basics on hand, especially when arriving after a long journey, to prepare a simple meal without the need to make a trip back into town. In summary, despite connectivity issues and the lack of kitchen basics, the lodge's beautiful location and the relaxing hot tub were the highlights of our stay.

Lovely cosy shepherd's hut where the owners have thought about everything.
We stayed in November and had snow but the hut remained warm and cosy with the log burner and the fantastic hot tub. We are two adults and a large boxer dog and managed just fine. Everything was spotless. There isn't much room for storage (there is a small area with hangers which we didn't expect) but we left things in the car and our small bags went under the bed. There are hooks for dressing gowns and coats near the door and back of bathroom door. Great size shower. Sheep are in the fields next to the garden which our dog is fine with but some dogs may not be so to be made aware of. Looks like they are building another hut next to Ivys but the distance is great and the shrubs and fencing still give you privacy and seclusion. You need to go into Rhayader for supplies/pubs and there are limited off lead dog walks in the area just due to the vast amount of farms and cattle. Would highly recommend this hut for peace and a chill out whilst looking at the amazing views and red kites flying overhead. The owner is helpful and at the end of the phone if you need her.
