What our customers say about their holidays

A fabulous location with just a short 15 minute walk into Ironbridge.
The cottage has been renovated to a high standard throughout and provides the perfect base for exploring Shropshire. We did find that the description of the property was not entirely accurate. It says that there is a wood burning stove, which there is, but it is not connected. It has no flue and is still mounted to the pallet it was delivered on. It would not be safe to light this until it has been correctly installed and feel it should be taken off the description until this has happened as it was one of the reasons we booked the cottage. It should also be mentioned that the patio is at the front of the cottage and not a private one at the back in the description and not just the bullet points. Parking is a bonus but feel that for people with any sort of mobility issues it should be noted that it is down a hill and a cross a road from the cottage. The stairs are narrow and steep so it can be difficult to get a suitcase up and down the stairs even at the age of 44. Just thinking of health and safety for future visitors that may have not been considered. We also feel that if you offer shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in dispensers these should be filled up. Two were empty when we arrived and whilst the shower is beautiful there is nowhere to put any of your own products except on the floor. The bedroom is very nicely decorated but both my partner and I struggled with the height of the bed and bed frame. It was too high for us and meant that it was hard to get in and out of and difficult to sit or perch on the edge as you would do at home. I think the cottage would benefit from a âWelcomeâ folder. There were some leaflets for the local area and a framed âWelcomeâ sign but nothing that tells you where to empty the kitchen bin to, nothing that says that after a shower please keep the extractor fan on and the door closed because the heat and steam will set off the fire alarm, (which happened several times before we realised what was causing it), the nearest place for a mobile phone signal in case of emergencies, local drâs and dentists and the fact that there is no âliveâ TV signal at the property. Lots of things which may not affect your stay if only visiting for a long weekend but we stayed for a week and so were noticing things that others may not. All things mentioned are observations as we arenât sure how long the property has been a holiday home for.

The owners were friendly, welcoming and cheery - clearly very nice people.
The property was clean and well equipped. There was parking outside the gates of the property. The reason for my low score is that I don't think the information about this property is strictly true. Downstairs was a very small kitchen space, so small that the table and one chair were under the stairs (don't stand up too quickly!). The table could be pulled out into the kitchen area if two people needed to use it (I stayed there on my own) I suppose. However, that would have meant placing the table directly outside the bathroom (with toilet) door. I have to be honest and say that I would not have booked if I had known there was just a single door separating the kitchen and toilet. Upstairs was as described, with a spacious living room and bedroom. However, the living room room is over part of the property that is not let but is used as a home office (the large glass door / window in the picture). I booked the property to visit certain places in the area, but also to spend some time just relaxing, studying and reading. Unfortunately, noise from the office below rather spoiled this. It is not that the person was particularly noisy but I was able to hear movement, doors slamming and phone calls. It was more like staying in a poorly insulated flat. I appreciate the property belongs to the owners and they can use it and let it as they want to but I feel potential holiday renters should be made aware that they will be staying above an office. Had there not been the issues listed above, I would not have mentioned the other noise issue, but other holidaymakers do need to be aware. The owners have two gorgeous, friendly dogs (I am a dog owner). On one evening, the dogs were, I can only assume, left home alone, which is the right of the owners to do, of course. However, from Foxholes Barn (living room, kitchen and bedroom) I could clearly hear the dogs barking frequently all evening until after 11.15pm. I feel disappointed that this property, in my opinion, was not described accurately and would be reluctant to trust the information provided by Sykes again.

We returned today, having the the pleasure of staying in Foxeholes Barn Shropshire, and I must say it was a delightful experience from start to finish.
The hosts of the accommodation were nothing short of excellent. Their warm hospitality and attention to detail made me feel welcome and at home throughout my stay. They were always ready to assist with any inquiries and went above and beyond to ensure my comfort. Clare cooked us a fantastic meal for our first night. It was amazing. The location of the accommodation was truly enchanting. Nestled in the heart of Shropshire, surrounded by picturesque countryside, it provided a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The breathtaking views and serene atmosphere added an extra layer of relaxation to my stay, making it a perfect retreat. Speaking of the countryside, the natural beauty of Shropshire is simply unparalleled. The rolling hills, meandering rivers, and charming villages create a postcard-worthy setting. Exploring the local countryside was a highlight of my trip, and I appreciated the easy access from the accommodation to the scenic landscapes. Overall, my stay in Foxeholes Barn was a memorable and rejuvenating experience. The combination of excellent hosts, a idyllic location, and stunning countryside made it a perfect getaway. I would highly recommend Shropshire to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat with a touch of charm and hospitality.

We spent a most delightful week at Wash House Cottage.
Being greeted by Lyn on arrival was a joy, we get to meet very few owners normally. The cottage is in a superb location nestled just behind the Main Street of Much Wenlock, so handy for the town, yet so peaceful. The cottage itself is lovely, though the big steps into the kitchen and out of the back door could be challenging for the less mobile. The cottage is well equipped with everything you need, the heating system is easy to handle and efficient. The showers, yes two, are of good size with good water pressure. The beds are comfortable as was the seating in the lounge. We had a wonderful time and with the beautiful weather were able to come home on an afternoon and sit out in the sunshine. We visited Ludlow, Bridgend and Shrewsbury all fairly close by, this cottage is so well placed to explore the area. Ironbridge was fantastic with so much more to explore given enough time. It just means weâll have to return to finish off our adventure! All in all a perfect cottage in a beautiful market town, Iâm so glad I chose this one.

Wash House Cottage June 14-21 Wash House Cottage in Much Wenlock is a very clean high quality cottage.
There is a very nice entrance way filled with flowers and plants. We were met by the owner who showed us how everything worked which was a nice touch. The stove worked well. Unfortunately there was no freezer compartment in the frig so we couldnât make ice cubes. The cottage is located on several levels, so it was nice to have two bathrooms. The bed was a large size with a comfortable mattress. The shower was hot. The heating system worked well. There was an outside patio which we enjoyed on sunny days. There was no welcome basket. Be prepared to bring everything - there was no tea or coffee supplied, not even salt and pepper! Only two rolls of toilet paper were supplied for the week. The cottage is centrally located in town. Much Wenlock was a great town for walking and we really enjoyed our week here.
