What our customers say about their holidays

Just back from 4 nights, and would commend the owners on how they've put a lot of thought into how theyve stocked the lodge with endless kitchen utensils, high chair in one of the cupboards, and a play pen / folding cot for those with babies.
Score highly for thinking of our beloved 4 legged friends with a basket in the unit as you enter the lodge for dogs with spare blanket, bowls, water bottle and think a couple of toys (not that we used any of it as had taken own dog bowls and blankets etc). A bottle of wine on arrival, handful of tea and coffee and sugar with capsules of milk in the fridge was a nice touch for anyone that had travelled along way to get there. We had only travelled an hr from home to the lodge Will 100% recommend to all HOWEVER think the advert should be amended to mention the proximity of the M6 to the rear (the bedrooms) of the lodge, a couple of bushes and a row of trees on a sound bank and reckon less than 20 metres from the M6. We could hear the traffic and that's in October with the windows obviously closed. So with windows on vent or open in Summer months then you will 1000% hear the M6. The site was pretty empty during our stay (4th-8th Oct). Think the advert also needs to mention the none existent lighting on the site, again probably not an issue in Summer months but it was pitch black when we went. Granted the owners did leave 2 head torches in a basket of leaflets about local attractions BUT still think it should mention the lack of lighting on the site. Also the on site pub restaurant has strange opening hrs, last food ordered/served 15.45 on a Sunday which was a shock. Think the property needs a little bit of TLC as few things not working, but we left a note for the owners and saw that others had done the same in the past. 10000% nicer site than Haven sites we have stayed on and had the major advantage of next to no kids on site. We would still book again and are thinking of doing so for May 2025.

This place is a perfect dog friendly getaway!
! From start to finish we enjoyed every minute. The lodge is very clean, comfortable, well equipped and a great location. The park has traffic barriers so you do have to walk from the entrance where the Waters Edge Restaurant is to the lodge when you arrive to get the key and the fob and walk back again so you can get in but its all of 5 - 10 mins to sort. The owners go above and beyond to make your stay perfect and the welcome pack with all the essentials like tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits and wine is a fabulous touch. I cooked a full breakfast whilst there and wasn't struggling with anything - plenty cutlery, utensils, plates, cups, etc. Even a dishwasher to do all the washing up for you with a couple of tabs provided by the owners! We ate at the Waters Edge restaurant twice, had better steaks elsewhere and the full English breakfast doesn't come with toast but not the end of the world. Two local pubs - Hawks Head and The Malt Shovel, food was really good, well worth a visit and both dog friendly. The little beach by the Waters Edge is great and a fabulous place to enjoy playing in the sand and the water. The M6 is directly behind the lodge, which honestly didn't bother us day or night - any comments that its noisy and disturbing are certainly not true. I would highly recommend this place and will certainly be booking again.

Wow what can I say.
My sister and I stayed in Birch Lodge last week and what an amazing lodge. When I opened the door and walked in it was like home from home and very welcoming. The cleanliness was excellent, the finishing touches to were amazing from the bedroom, bathroom and living area. The ornaments and the throws made it look so good. The kitchen has every thing in that you could ask for from washing up liquid to every cleaning product you would would. Bathrooms both had shower gel even. Carolyn brought us home made bread and jam and it was to die for. The beds were very comfortable and bedding was lovely and clean. This is the 9th lodge I have stayed in on this holiday park and it was the best by far and you can tell that Carolyn takes pride in her Lodge. We will definitely book again it was amazing. Even though the weather wasnât good. Excellent 5 star lodge. Thank you Karen and Sue xx

This lodge was perfect!
Everything was first class. Really clean and really comfy. We was met by Carolyn and shown to the lodge. We had home made bread and jam waiting, to save you rushing to the shops after a long journey. Nice touch! Carolyn thought about everything from toiletries to little bits in the kitchen. The location was perfect for exploring the Lakes and the Dales, plus the local area. The site has a lake where you can use SUP's and kayaks. It was for us ideal. There are facilities onsite like a pub, restaurant and leisure club with pool and gym but we never used them. Yes you can hear a bit of road noise but that did not bother us, we were always able to sleep and enjoy the decking. Carolyn takes really pride in what she does which helped to make this holiday experience excellent. Thank you.

We had an absolutely wonderful week at Birch Lodge.
We were met by owner Carolyn with the keys at reception, and she showed us to the lodge, which is located on the far side of the site. Carolyn had kindly left us homemade bread, with jam & butter, and it was to die for. The lodge itself was spotless, beds were comfortable, and there was everything we could possibly need already provided. You can hear the noise of the traffic from the M6 (especially at night), however after the first night it didn't seem to bother us again. Facilities on the site were brilliant. The restaurant and bar was dog friendly, and the food there was lovely. The location of the site is ideal for lots of days out. We were sad to leave, and we will definitely book again in the future.
