What our customers say about their holidays

Swings and Roundabouts for us.
It could do with a few tweaks and I like to leave honest reviews with constructive criticism. Overall it was a nice quiet getaway with beautiful surroundings and nice walks including straight from the gate. Loved the big enclosed garden for our pooch who also loved the outside hot water tap after a walk in the muddy fields! The pizza oven was new for us so that was great fun and toasting marshmallows for super was a great treat! The underfloor heating was toasty and the kitchen was well equipped. It was decorated for Xmas and a bottle of tasty prosecco was a nice touch and a pint of milk also. Hot tub was nice, good windbreaker/privacy screen to pull across as it can feel like you are overlooked by the Cabin on the hill. Great that the hot tub had Wi-Fi, only one speaker was working but still loud enough. So we had originally booked and paid for the Cabin at the top of the hill but was then contacted by Sykes to let us know that it wasnât actually available but the lodge was, so that was lucky! The photos need updating as it shows nice reclining sofas in the first half of the pictures and then changes to what they actually are in the second half of the pictures⦠not reclining and not very comfortable unfortunately. We didnât find the mattress very comfy as it dipped a lot in the middle but everyoneâs comfort is different. We were told on the day before arrival not to use the front door as it wasnât working properly and that it would be fixed after Xmas so hopefully thatâs all good now. We were left information to say no cushions were on the sofas etc or board games and dvds available due to âCovid19â, however we did find the board games and dvds in the utility room so a little bit confused by that. Shower head needed a good scrub to remove lime scale which was blocking up the holes. Water temperature of the shower was very temperamental, however owner was more than happy to change the shower and communicated well, however we decided it wasnât a massive drama so was happy for them to leave it over Xmas and hopefully itâs all good now. Log burner is always a favourite of ours, however a puddle of water seemed to form on the top of it which then constantly dripped on to the fire place. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

The Orchard is the perfect place to stay if you want an isolated, comfy, beautiful break away from it all.
Our collie loved it as much as we did. When we had the lounge doors open, heâd happily lie in the sun on the patio, taking in the sounds of wildlife and the lovely views across the hills. I felt comfortable taking him around the grounds either without a lead or with a free, long lead. The inside is ideal, too, as the stairs lead straight up to a bedroom with a door, and the other two bedrooms are on the ground floor. The property is on a quiet, narrow country road, but if you turn right at the bottom of the drive, it widens out and makes for a pleasant walk. The driveway up to the property is steep but manageable. Its length really makes it feel that the property is in the middle of nowhere, even though itâs only a few minutes drive to the small, quiet village nearby. Thereâs an abundance of wildlife (we went in June): we saw bullfinches, crows, red kites, buzzards, and bats up above, and sheep, cows, and a deer in the fields over the valley. This is a dark sky area, but due to the light nights in the summer, we didnât get to do much stargazing. We might come again during the winter and hope for cloudless skies! We were, however, fortunate enough to be treated to an RAF display in the valley. The beds are comfy, though you could tell that one of the king-sizes was two beds together. The bathroom downstairs is very modern and large, and the open-plan kitchen-lounge is nicely laid out, with wide-opening doors to the patio and Sky TV. Note that there is only a very small freezer, but there are two well-sized fridges. We were generously treated to a pint of milk and some cookies on arrival. We ordered a Tesco delivery for our first evening and it arrived with no problem. Iâd recommend taking a car down the drive and throwing your shopping into the boot by the gate. The kitchen is well-equipped with decent appliances, though the kettle could do with a good clean. The tap water often appeared cloudy, but we just boiled it before use and it was fine. We loved the stable door in the kitchen - we could have the bottom half shut but enjoy the outside while we were cooking with the top half open. Overall, this was a fantastic stay. We loved every minute and were gutted to leave, but we will certainly be back to enjoy it all over again.

Beautiful lodge, perfect in every way for my family holiday.
We loved the private location surrounded by trees & open fields. We were greeted with a bottle of wine on arrival & the owners of the property were at hand if ever we needed them. The lodge was clean & tidy & had everything we needed for a fun & relaxing holiday. The hot tub was the perfect way to unwind at the end of each day & a great way to get my teenagers away from technology!! We found everything in the lodge very easy to use such as the hot tub, the oven, the hobs, the washing machine etc. We loved that all the light switches were labelled too. The outdoor pizza oven was a real bonus & we used it twice during our stay to cook the most delicious home made pizzas. The kids enjoyed toasting marshmallows too. The lodge is in a very remote area so you do need to be prepared to drive a little but that was fine for us & exactly what we were looking for as we took our pups, one of which is very reactive so the more private the better! The only downside was the mile long drive up to the property which is incredibly bumpy but not really a problem. The garden was completely secure which was perfect for our frenchies. They had a wonderful time exploring the grounds & we felt completely relaxed that they were safe. We had access from our garden to many paths around the surrounding fields, & found a lovely little stream just out the back. We also found a fabulous walk just a mile out of the village of Bleddfa called Fishpools walk. It had free parking & the most stunning views as you walked up through Radnor Forest. During our stay we visited Griffin Lloyd shooting range for a great clay pigeon shooting experience, our children went on a fabulous full day hack on horse back across the Black Mountains at the Brecon Beacons with Tregoyd Mountain Riders. We went Go Karting at Herefordshire Raceway Karting which was so much fun, we visited the amazing Gigrin Red Kite feeding centre & we all had a brilliant time at the Severn Valley Quad Trekking experience just to name a few. These activities were all within an hours drive of the property. Gorgeous property, picturesque location & we would highly recommend it to anyone. Thank you Darren & Lindsey for being great hosts, we absolutely loved our stay & didnât want to go home.

So much more than five stars!
We just spent the most amazing holiday at The Orchard. Those views!, the grounds, the orchard!, the property!..., simply stunning! Lots of big windows in the cottage to drink in that fab view plus bi-folding doors to the patio area off of the living room. The open plan kitchen/diner/living area is superb. Two of the three bedrooms are on the ground floor which was great for my husband and I, our pooches and my 83 year old dad. We shared the large, stunning marble bathroom with large walk-in shower. There is another very large bedroom upstairs with it's own en-suite shower room, great for bigger groups. The separate wc in the utility area was perfect for quick loo breaks before heading out to the shops or returning from the local pub. The furniture, fixtures and fittings and kitchen appliances are really good quality too. Everything you could want for a most relaxing holiday was provided for. We bbq'd one day using the large bbq provided, which was fantastic. Sitting outside during the days and in the evenings was so very relaxing and calming, in fact my dad sat for hours inside and outside just admiring the views, enjoying the peace and calm. All you hear are the birds, bees, insects and the occasional sheep/lambs bleeting. Absolute country bliss! The Greyhound Inn in the village is a short walk away and is lovely, very friendly owners and locals too. The large (it's like a Tardis!) Co-Op in the next village of Knighton is your closest for groceries and petrol (a mere 15 minutes by car), plus a variety of other shops, more pubs; and Prince and Pugh were great for gifts and those last minute things needed for your holiday (such as citronella candles, fly screens for windows, food containers, household goods, cakes, biscuits etc). Do pay them a visit and also the Music shop next door - really lovely friendly people, well everyone in the area is really. We all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and will be back soooooon! And the pooches had the most amazing time in the enclosed gardens. They absolutely loved their holiday too! Love, Gail, Ed, pooches and my dad xox

We had a fantastic holiday at No.
1 Beacon View Barn in July. Itâs in an idyllic spot, where the only noise you can hear is the occasional sheep bleating & the view is just stunning from the front of the property. The barn is beautifully decorated, with comfy seating, big wardrobes, high ceilings and a great rainfall shower. The kitchen was really well equipped (better than ours at home I think!) & the welcome basket with prosecco, eggs and dog treats was a lovely touch. The garden is safely enclosed which was great for our dog â she loved sitting on the patio staring at the sheep in the fields. Lin & James (the owners) came & introduced themselves & made sure we knew how to contact them if needed. Theyâre very friendly & have lots of advice about places to walk & eat which is great if you donât know the area â there is also a good supply of maps and tourist attraction leaflets in the barn. There are some good walks you can do from the doorstep and itâs only a short drive to some nice towns & pubs. We had a great time exploring during the days, then relaxing in the hot tub sipping wine in the evenings looking at the view. We only stayed for a week but felt so relaxed and recharged by the time we headed home, weâre already starting to plan our next visit!
