What our customers say about their holidays

We had an absolutely delightful stay at Marsh Cottage with our two dogs!
We were impressed by the warm and inviting atmosphere of the place. The bathroom was lovely with comfortable tub that allowed relaxation after a day of exploring, with second loo downstairs. The bed was incredibly soft and provided a restful nightâs sleep. The huge fenced-in garden was a dream for our furry companions, offering them a safe and exciting space to roam and play freely. The garden was beautifully maintained, with delightful flowers, butterflies, birds and bees. And the added bonus of friendly horses just on the other side of the fence brought an extra touch of charm to the whole experience. The location of the cottage couldn't have been better for our Devon coast and Exmoor walks. Make sure you take the picturesque stroll into North Molton, starting right from the cottage, as it was a true gem, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the beauty of the local surroundings with spectacular views of the village. We appreciated the privacy of the cottage, allowing us to truly unwind and disconnect from the busy world. The well-equipped kitchen was a pleasure to use, making it easy to prepare our meals and dine comfortably. Sheltered carport a huge bonus with unexpected showers. We can't wait to return to Marsh Cottage! It truly exceeded our expectations and provided the perfect escape for us and our pups!

The cottage was perfect for us and our large dog with the enclosed garden for him to roam freely and safely.
We loved the remoteness and privacy the cottage offers with the large south facing garden. My only suggestion is that perhaps you mention in the description that you have 2 very friendly horses in the field on the other side of the fence. Only that if any dogs are reactive to horses, customers are aware of the horses there. Our dog is reactive to horses, and we saw it as a good opportunity to desensitise him and train him - but when your horses came right to the fence to say hello (which was lovely for us!), we had to put our dog on a long lead and hold him back to prevent him spooking the horses by lunging and barking at them. This was not a negative for us, as like I said, it was a great opportunity to help train him to be comfortable in horses presence, but it could be a different consideration for others, depending on their dog. We really enjoyed our stay so thanks again and we may well return!

Apparently, following some redecoration, the property had been left without heat for some days and was very cold and still with out any heating on when we arrived.
In our view, the electric wall mounted heaters would never be adequate in early spring, winter and late autumn mainly because of the high pitched ceilings in the living room and bedroom[i.e. heat rises].The wood burning stove is nice idea and very fashionable but, in practise, was difficult to light and 'ate' wood with out adding much to the warmth of the main living and sleeping areas. If the current system is going to be retained we suggest in the cold season a good electric fan heater is provided in lieu of the log burner. We,in fact, left a day early to avoid another evening and night at Beech cottage. The enormous TV was also much too big for a small living room.

We stayed at Beech Cottage for a 5 day break around New Year.
Very nice location in quiet lane overlooking lovely countryside. The log burner was most welcome . We took our dog Bueno with us , who enjoyed some great walks. We also took our bikes & dog trailer which Debbie, owner kindly let us store in her garage. You do need to take a torch with you, as the one in the cottage isn't great. There wasn't a comments book in the cottage, so could you please pass on our thanks for the prosecco Debbie left for us. A really enjoyable stay lucky too with the weather only rain once. Note to Sykes Holidays. Your paperwork stated contact for keys Lucy Watkins, this is incorrect. Its Debbie Potter although tel number is as you say

A very different feel to our normal 'cottage' holiday - but very much enjoyed the comfort and feel of the lovely apartment Great location for circular walks to Lee (the Grampus Inn does lovely food and to Croyde via Baggy Point - both very much recommended. Shame no dogs in Croyde beach until October, but loved the Sandy Bay Beach, near Lee via the Smugglers Path. More locally walked the Mortehoe paths several times - great scenery and spectacular views - and the cross country walks to Woolacombe too with good coffee at Beachcombers Cafe with views down over Woolacombe beach. Shall be recommending Rockham and Mortehoe to friends back in Bristol and beyond.
