  A Perfect Birthday Getaway!

  The Spitfire Lodge is an exceptional retreat—a hidden gem and an ideal destination for a couples' getaway. The lodge is beautifully decorated to a high standard and maintained impeccably. The facilities are outstanding, leaving us wanting for nothing. The kitchen is fully equipped with every utensil, pot, pan, piece of crockery, glassware, and gadget one could possibly need. We were also delighted by the thoughtful welcome hamper, which included biscuits, chocolates, crisps, and brioche rolls, along with fresh milk in the fridge and a selection of tea and coffee. A particularly thoughtful touch was the inclusion of ketchup and brown sauce, which we had forgotten for our breakfast. The private hot tub and sauna were standout features, providing the ultimate relaxation, while the log fire added a cozy and inviting atmosphere—perfect for chilly winter evenings. Generous supplies of logs and firelighters were provided, ensuring a hassle-free experience. Lisa and Carl are exceptional hosts—attentive yet unobtrusive—striking the perfect balance to create a truly private and relaxing stay. Their communication prior to our visit was clear, helpful, and informative, making the entire experience seamless. Thank you for sharing this beautiful hideaway with us.   Mill cottage was perfect for the two of us and our little dog.

  Great communications with the owner who contacted us to let us know the cottage was ready for us a few hours before check in. A welcome pack of quality tea and coffee, milk sugar and a tin of home made brownies (yummy). Much appreciated. Also washing up liquid, scrubbers, kitchen cloths,dishwasher tablets and washing tablets were provide plus lots of other little extras. Our dog loved his treats. Towels for dogs, bowls poo bags were provided too. Very clean, comfortable, everthing we could possibly need was provided and a comfy bed. What more could we ask for. It was about 100 yards from the main street of lovely Leek. Lots of eating and drinking places and a lot of very nice independant shops. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay

  This was our second and best stay at Mill Cottage.

  Great pre arrival communication with the host and easy entry instructions. Complimentary milk, mince pies, doggie treats and a thoughtful Christmas card waiting for our arrival. Surprisingly quiet for such a perfect location in the middle of town and a car park twenty metres away, opposite the cottage. The only issue is the lack of hanging space so unable to fully unpack our suitcases during our stay.

  Really lovely cottage perfect for what we needed.

  Bed was comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. Fire was a real bonus. Really great location very handy for being so close to the town center. Clean with plenty of hot water, what more could you need! Was initially worried about parking but cause we were out all day and only in the car park in the evening and overnight we only had to pay for parking one day and never had an issue getting a space.

  The Cartshed is an extremely warm, well equipped and well appointed holiday cottage. The welcome pack was lovely. Top marks for the well organised recycling / and Ecco products. Exceptionally well equipped kitchen made it feel like a real home from home. The packed games cupboard was great too. Overall a lovely place to spend time with family and friends.
