What our customers say about their holidays
Catherine Laura - Verified booking
After a traumatic 2018 a holiday was most definitely needed.
So months of saving to provide this holiday for my three daughters and elderly mother our holiday dates had finally arrived. After a very long and tiring journey. All excited for our holiday and about the property we would be staying in. But the excitement didnât stay for long. On arrival at the property first impressions werenât good as recycling boxes overflowing and big bin full to the top. Then NO key in the lock box so couldnât enter the property. Contacted owner who suggested we climb through the window. Luckily my children are of an age where this was possible as myself or my mother most certainly wouldnât have been able to do this. Once my 9 year old had managed to get into the property and opened the door we where greeted with a very strong musty smell, bits all over the hall floor, very thick cobwebs and flies above the front door. Upon further investigation to look around our holiday home we found dirty washing in the washing machine, pots in the dishwasher. kitchen cupboards smelt mouldy. Dust on shelves, behind tv, on skirting boards and that was just the first floor. Going upstairs main bathroom shower screen rubber seal not the best and ornaments, pictures, hooks all dusty/dirty. Shower heads in en-suites where black/dirty. Tv in second lounge thick with dust. Wardrobes dusty, Not good at all especially when one of your children is asthmatic. Down the side of one of the beds was sweet wrappers and somebody elseâs socks so definitely not cleaned. I could go and on with what we found. Luckily the weather was on my side if we would have had to spend any long periods of time in the property I would have requested Sykes to find us somewhere else to stay. Which is a shame as itâs a good size house, in a good location with plenty of books, games and films. But it is most definitely in need of some deep cleaning as feel only the bear minimum is being done.

Family of five adults ageing from 23-78 years young stayed at the property.
Itâs a lovely spacious house as described over three floors. The rear courtyard is enclosed which is good as we took our two pups. This had a table with a few chairs and also a small line to hang out your beach towels / washing. I really liked that there was two lounges as at times we could use both to do different things. At the property there are books games puzzles really thoughtful especially if youâre unlucky to get a rainy day with our weather. The kitchen was well stocked for equipment and the little touches like the toilet roll bags for the extra toilet rolls in one of the rooms made it all look part of the seaside theme. Some real effort has been made to make this a home from home. The location of the house is really too close to the town / beach and there is also a Lidl just at the bottom of the road over the main road. We unpacked our car parking across from the house did a quick Lidl trip and unpacked before moving our car to one of the local car parks, again not far to walk from the house. There is a lot of helpful information given before you arrive to help you decide where to park depending the duration of your stay.

We found Teign cottage to be a first class holiday rental property.
It is extremely well equipped with every kitchen item that could be needed. The cooker is first class and heats up rapidly. The lounge is very comfortable and has a great TV. The main bedroom is huge and has a very comfortable bed and also has a TV. There is a second bedroom with twin beds which looks nice too. We were there in late November so the heating system kept us nice and warm. Location of the property is excellent and we could see the estuary from the windows. Its a very short distance from the beach so our Border Collie loved it and she even had an extra evening walk on the beach and crisps in the real ale pub a few yards away. There is also an excellent restaurant, The Clipper, a few yards away. Even in the off season I would recommend booking a table. The owners are very hospitable and even met us to hand over the keys although here is a key safe provided. Communications were great both by email and phone. I managed to leave my dressing gown behind and the owner called to say they will send it on. We really enjoyed our break and would like to return eventually.

This is a lovely little property tucked away by the back beach.
Nestled between two pubs, youâd think it would be noisy but itâs not. The court yard can be a sun trap but watch out for the seagulls⦠Things were a little dusty and a slight feeling of damp on arrival but this was soon addressed. We did note that there were no recycle bins available. The neighbour told us that despite the owners best efforts they keep being taken. Might be worth storing them in the back? A guide might help for things like bin days (Wednesday). Parking within Teignbridge car parks has increased to £40 a week and it increases in April. It is also not valid for on street parking which is run by the county council. This is something to be aware of. Ring Go operate the parking meters. The back beach is lovely and the sea is a lot calmer, it is also where dogs can go, so if youâre not a fan beware. Finally, beware of seagulls, they can be aggressive and they are not adverse to stealing your food whilst itâs travel to your mouth. They love ice cream, sandwiches and chips. Luckily we were not caught out but saw this going on.

As a returning guest to Quayside.
I think the improvements are brilliant. A fairly decent sized tv and wifi. I would 100% recommend this property to anyone. The new front door is beautiful, however, a blind or net curtain would make the cottage feel a bit more private, particularly when it gets dark. This is constructive NOT criticism, but the seating could be more accommodating, The cottage has sleeping for 4 people. however, if there were 4 adults then the current seating would be ridiculous. Perhaps consider an L shaped sofa? A food caddy would be very helpful - all the neighbours have one. A few more bits of info would also be helpful - there were instructions for the kettle and toaster but not the washing machine! We had a lovely time at the cottage and would like to say a big thank you to the lady/man in charge of change over for doing a brilliant job on check in day. This is a nice cottage in a stunning location - Book It!
