What our customers say about their holidays

This was more of a âmobile homeâ than a cottage but was pretty comfortable.
It is well sheltered by trees (gets very little sun) and felt just slightly damp - but opening the big door and windows soon cleared that. It has all the equipment and facilities needed but was a little bijou! The shower was a tight squeeze to get into but fine once in it! There were only two of us but I think 4 adults would feel constricted - especially if the weather was bad. We luckily had a week of glorious autumn sunshine. . It is positioned on a fairly quiet lane just off the busy A272. Turning onto and off this road needs patience and maybe a polite driver to let you turn. There are lots of things to do around there, within a 45 minute drive or closer. We particularly enjoyed Standen House (NT), Hever Castle (we were lucky to visit at the same time as a big craft market), Shoreham-by-Sea (pleasant little town), Lewes (get the history walking trail map), Bignor Roman villa and Eastbourne (lovely seafront). Denise was very welcoming (great banana loaf) and was a friendly and unobtrusive host. Look out for the wildlife in the orchard - deer, squirrels, rabbits and birds.

Very compact lodge, which was nice and clean, in a lovely area.
We visited in winter but the decking would be nice to sit out on in better weather and obviously would greatly enlarge the living space available. The bedrooms are very compact with no real space down one side of the bed, one of the bedrooms doesn't really have any space for even a small suitcase although there are a couple of small drawers and some hanging space. The lodge was nice and warm and had a good shower too. We were unable to connect to the wifi and the owner and his son very helpfully came out to reset the router for us but unfortunately the connection was still very patchy and dropped out frequently, we also had limited mobile coverage (O2). The owner did mention that fibre broadband would be available from early January so this should solve that problem. Overall the lodge is very nice and has all the facilities needed to have a nice break but travel light!

We have just returned from a lovely week in Sussex staying at the Dog and Trout. The cottage was super comfy and well equipped, with lovely large bathrooms. Our cockapoo was able to stretch his legs in the pretty and secluded garden. We really appreciated the lovely welcome gifts and it was nice to meet the owners, Julie and Martyn, who were very helpful. We were lucky enough to have mostly sunny weather and particularly enjoyed the three village pubs, which were all dog friendly and served great food. We went for some lovely walks from the cottage across the downs, up to Cissbury Ring, and travelled further afield to the coast and to the Weald & Downland Living Museum. Would recommend a car to get to the shops and village eateries. We may well be back!!

Fantastic long weekend of peaceful solitude.
The owner made it known upon arrival that she was available if needed and was found immediately when I had a missing item to supply it. They also kindly made it clear ahead of my departure that I didnât have to rush out at the usual checkout time as their cleaner would not be there until later in the day. The only suggestion would be to provide a torch, especially in winter, as by their own admission the solar lights donât really get enough sunlight to charge them and the path to the pod from the car park and the drive/road itself can be pretty dark. All in all, a wonderful weekend and Iâd love to return.

We had a super stay.
The location and setting were beautiful. Your banana and coconut loaf was absolutely delicious - can I have the recipe???? The beds were very comfortable and everything was clean, tidy and well presented. We would (and likely will!) definitely stay again. We felt very comfortable and generally, thought the lodge was well equipped. Itâs in no way a complaint but, we felt the addition of a drying rack for the draining board would be very useful, and a couple of extra knives (for different chopping tasks) in the kitchen would be helpful for people who may be doing more cooking at home as we did.
